I was arrested for 1st offense refusal. I was very unsure about what was going to happen next and looked up OUI lawyers, after reading and listening to previous clients statement on his website I decides to give Mr Waldbaum a call. Mr. Waldbaum returned my call immediately and began to verbally walk me through what was going to happen, this was very helpful and made things much less stressful, he was very honest about everything that he could do for me. We went to court and got everything done in 1 day, I was leaving for a vacation to Europe in a few weeks following the arrest and his expert handing of my case allowed me to still take this trip. I had trouble getting my license back after court because of the RMV changing their computer systems, MR. Waldbaum and his associate Mr. Dunn were very proactive and went as far as spending over 4 hours at the RMV/ running back and forth to the court house to get documents until the RMV gave me a license, and to top it off they did not charge me for all this extra service. I was on the fence about hiring a lawyer and spending that much money, I am so grad I did and would highly recommend MR. Waldbaum and Mr. Dunn.

Dear Attorney Joseph Waldbaum, “This letter is written with gratitude, appreciation, admiration, and respect.” Going back to October 17, 2016 that early Sunday morning my life took a turn for the worst and my family was facing certain turmoil. Having been arrested for my 3rd OUI and placed into custody during the early morning hours, and unsure of where I was to turn. I sat at the police station until I was to be arraigned at court. Having posted bail, I was facing a slew of charges with one being a felony which comes with a mandatory 6 months in jail. I went home and started googling best OUI lawyers In Massachusetts. I came across your website and was impressed that you had all these referrals of past clients along with actual videos. I reviewed several of them and I also reached out too a few. When I decided to reach out to you by phone I received an immediate call back within minutes. We discussed my case and you gave me an insight of what we would be facing and the challenges it would be because of it being my 3rd OUI with a Felony implication. Having been stressing about the potential repercussions for my actions, I decided you were going to give me the best shot at defending me. Since day one you were there for me and my family. You stood beside me, helped me through a most difficult process with patience, understanding, and explained every detail to me so that I could understood the process, court proceedings, and outcome. Everything was exactly as you said it would be, and I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome. Attorney Waldbaum was able to suppress my breath test which was a big win for us before trial. Then we went to trial and Attorney Waldbaum worked like a true professional in the court room and was able to get the jury to find me “Not Guilty”. When I heard the verdict, I started to get emotional as I am now able to resume my life, my career, and most importantly bringing closure to this for my family. I would also like to point out that during these past 18 months. I had another circumstance surfaced in another court during July 2017, and once again you were there for me with undivided attention, and time. All resolved well, and we avoided jail time and fines. Once again, I thank you. In today’s time and turmoil, it is truly rare to find an individual to be so knowledgeable, honest, and integrity not compromised. A rare asset “a gem” to the profession. For anyone seeking legal counsel. I say go no further then Attorney Joseph Waldbaum. Attorney Waldbaum is able, dependable, and if all possible will help to resolve your situation. A fine gentleman indeed! The best quote that Attorney Waldbaum said to me that will always stay with me. “The good lawyers know the law, the great lawyers know the judges” With the highest regards, Best, Mr. Scott

Exceptional Legal Representation and Service I recently had the opportunity to be represented by Travis T. Pregent, Esq. of Pregent Law in an employment case, and my experience was outstanding. From the onset, Travis demonstrated an exceptional level of involvement and commitment to my case. His ability to explain complex legal processes in a clear and understandable manner was incredibly reassuring. One of the most impressive aspects of Travis's service was his flexibility and transparency throughout the case. He was always available to address my concerns and provided timely updates, ensuring that I was fully informed at every stage. His strategic foresight was remarkable; he accurately anticipated the opposing party's moves, which played a crucial role in the outcome of the case. Moreover, Travis's honesty and straightforwardness in discussing what was possible and what wasn't helped set realistic expectations. His skillful negotiation and strategic approach led to a resolution much sooner than I had anticipated, and I was thoroughly satisfied with the outcome. In my role as an employee involved in a legal dispute, having an attorney like Travis, who combines expertise with genuine care for his clients, made a significant difference. Barry Levine and his assistant Kathy Leahy were tremendous in their understanding of my personal financial situation. When you walk into the office, there is an immediate feeling of an accepting and non-judgmental environment. As far as the process is concerned, Kathy was especially helpful in pulling all the required documentation and support for the filing together. She was definitely a resource to be counted upon. As far as Barry is concerned, do not be fooled by his laid-back demeanor. He has been doing this for many years and knows his stuff! I could not be happier with the service provided by the team of Barry & Kathy!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Beverly, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
