Exceptional Legal Representation and Service I recently had the opportunity to be represented by Travis T. Pregent, Esq. of Pregent Law in an employment case, and my experience was outstanding. From the onset, Travis demonstrated an exceptional level of involvement and commitment to my case. His ability to explain complex legal processes in a clear and understandable manner was incredibly reassuring. One of the most impressive aspects of Travis's service was his flexibility and transparency throughout the case. He was always available to address my concerns and provided timely updates, ensuring that I was fully informed at every stage. His strategic foresight was remarkable; he accurately anticipated the opposing party's moves, which played a crucial role in the outcome of the case. Moreover, Travis's honesty and straightforwardness in discussing what was possible and what wasn't helped set realistic expectations. His skillful negotiation and strategic approach led to a resolution much sooner than I had anticipated, and I was thoroughly satisfied with the outcome. In my role as an employee involved in a legal dispute, having an attorney like Travis, who combines expertise with genuine care for his clients, made a significant difference. His professionalism, expertise, and dedication to achieving the best possible outcome for me were truly commendable. I highly recommend Travis T. Pregent and Pregent Law to anyone seeking legal representation that is not just effective but also compassionate and client-focused.

Atty Travis Pregent is knowledgeable, efficient, and a great communicator. He always returned calls and emails quickly. We were never left wondering where the case was going. We were able to quickly settle out of court. I cannot thank him enough for taking our case. I would definitely hire him again, if the need arose.

David was very professional during the whole divorce case. He appeared to run laps around his opposing counsel during my divorce. His knowledge and legal talent is the best I have ever seen or dealt with. He skillfully negotiated the best possible outcome for me in my divorce. He kept me informed at all times, and he was always available for questions, even finding the best way out of several difficult legal quagmires. He put a complex case settlement together in a timely manner. I find he was reasonable with his fees, he kept my costs minimal, and he was more than fair with me overall. My divorce settlement was approved by the Court without problems. This allowed me to get on with my life in freedom. David's relatable style, and candor was refreshing. This was just what I needed during that tough time in my life. As a result, I ç highly recommend David and his firm. In fact, I would not have recovered as well as I did without his steady guidance throughout my divorce proceedings.

This is my second time working with David Gabriel. If I have to get an attorney I will choose him again. If you need someone who is honest and knows his stuff - hire him. My case was complicated- other attorney was interested in her own earnings and tried to drag things along just to bill. David was making things mentally as easy as possible for me and shield me from other side nonsense and abuse and absorbed a lot of craziness. He will do a great job and he is honest man. He is doing things Right.

During my divorce, the darkest times of my life, Attorney Gabriel provided constant support and counsel, guiding me through this very difficult time. David and his terrific, dedicated staff consistently went above and beyond, seemingly treating me as if I was their only client. Assuring me with explanations and terms I could understand, Attorney Gabriel was able to walk me through complex legal language that was completely foreign to me, making all the difference. If you find yourself headed into divorce, I strongly recommend that you consider Attorney Gabriel. -C.K. - Amesbury, MA.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Beverly, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
