Marc was there for my family in the darkest time in our life. Tragedy struck our family suddenly after a minor hospital procedure ended in the loss of my husband's life. Marc came highly recommended by a colleague and now I know why. From the very beginning the advice he gave me was instrumental in the successful outcome. His knowledge and experience was clear to me through the whole process. He took the time to see the picture of our family before our loss and after. A life like my husbands can never be replaced ...thank you Marc Breakstone for being the fighter our family needed!

Marc Breakstone provided more comfort and a peace of mind than I could have ever imagined. A little over a year ago, I was in a very serious taxi accident as a passenger- and almost 5 months pregnant. I was petrified for the health of my baby. I was completely overwhelmed with having to undergo a spinal fusion because my back was broken over several L sections. And I had an 11 month old at home that I could no longer take care of on my own. We had literally just bought a house 5 months before, and that accident literally caused my family's world to crumble. And if you are in a similar boat, you can relate- I have never felt so helpless and depressed, I needed to find a lawyer ASAP that I could trust with the well being and future security of my family. I was literally boggled of where to begin, as I have never been involved in a law suit before. And insurance contracts/ lingo/ etc was just so foreign to me. I found 4 lawyers total that I read reviews on from the internet OR was recommended by family friends. I found Marc on some Google search- and that made me a tad nervous because I am a little more "old school" than that. However, I called his office and after speaking to him directly ( which was literally about 5 min after I called, he returned my message )....I instantly felt at ease with him. There is something about his personality that is very direct, yet patient with explaining options/ the law/ advice. Marc was also willing to talk to my husband and a family friend who has legal background from another state trying to help me. So, I conservatively met with him and 3 other lawyers in person, and Marc was the only one I felt was both "down to earth" and at the same time extremely aggressive/passionate when it came to ensuring that my claim was heard properly by the parties concerned. We chose Marc to represent me, and I am SO HAPPY we did. Let me tell you this- If you want somebody that is approachable- choose Marc. If you want someone who will fight for you like he has known you for your whole life, choose Marc. And if you understand that you need someone who is that bit aggressive/confident in making his point, on your behalf, choose Marc. My husband felt that Marc would be a "lion in the ring " for us. Also, I want to add that I live in NYC...I was hit in MA during a weekend away. So I was nervous having the distance away from someone who is representing me. If by chance that is you- dont worry about it. Marc is literally so accessible. I also dont feel like I could write this review without mentioning- Christine Roberts. Marc's executive assistant is a rock star. She reflects his standards of extreme professionalism with a streak of warmth. I could keep writing about all the positive experiences I had along the way with Marc, but I will sum it up this way. A very hormonal pregnant woman, with a baby at home, was hit by a taxi and had to undergo a 7 hour spinal fusion surgery, learn how to walk again, and deal with the pain of the accident/surgery thoughout her pregnancy while accepting the fact she could no longer lift her one year old at home, bathe him, clean up after him etc. ** I am writing this review about one year from the accident and post settlement. I am still so incredibly emotional about that night and everything that happened....But I am still a bit proud that during this complete disaster and at times, what I honestly thought was depression and a breakdown mentally, I was still able to see that Marc would fight for me. And he did. And he will for you. He is just so passionate about his job...and you will come to see glimpses of his personal life that you know this is just a good guy. I look at my daughter now and I thank god for my neuro team, my OB team, and my lawyer. While my doctors really provided such wonderful physical care...Marc was really there as a rock- I let put all my anxiety on his shoulders and he delivered back a secure future. He will forever be part of our family story now.

I hired Marc after another lawyer wasn't really spending the time or attention to my case that I felt comfortable with. When I spoke to Marc the very first time on the phone, I thought, "This guy is tough and attentive!" From our first conversation until the successful outcome of my mediations and settlement, I could not have asked for better, more thorough, and tough representation. I read a review on this very site and that lead me to Marc Breakstone. The positive things people say are right on the money. He told me to focus on my healing and health and leave the lawyering to him. I needed that assurance because I had 5 surgeries in just over a year, and was dealing with disability for the first time and I was in an enormous amount of pain. His strength allowed me to let it go and focus on my health. The case was settled in mediation and it was a very positive outcome. Thank you Marc, Christine Roberts and Reza Breakstone. I am forever grateful for your hard work, expertise and dedication. I would recommend you to anyone that needed representation after an injury and facing big insurance. You gave a voice and a face to my case and you made them look at the facts. Grateful.

Marc Breakstone rescued my wife’s case. After she fell down freshly painted stairs, we hired a lawyer who advertised in the local newspaper. That lawyer mishandled the case almost 3 years. He told us we had to accept an offer that was just slightly higher than the amount of her medical bills. Fortunately, a friend suggested I give Marc Breakstone a call. Marc met with us and was reluctant to get involved. He told us that he felt an obligation to help out and accepted the case. Marc jumped into action and filed suit against the landlord. He aggressively pursue the case taking depositions of every witness including the police officer who responded to the 911 call. Unlike the first lawyer, March handle the case with the highest level of skill and professionalism. He also guided my wife and her medical care and treatment to ensure that she received the best possible outcome. He kept us informed of every important development in the case. As a result of his superb work, the case was settled, prior to trial at mediation. We had the opportunity to see his impressive interactive digital presentation at the mediation. Everyone in the room was persuaded by the power of his presentation. Even the mediator commented several times how effective it was. The case settled for an amount many times greater than the first offer. We feel like we received the best possible representation. Dealing with Marc’s staff, including Christine Roberts, his secretary and Reza Breakstone, his associate, was a pleasure from start to finish. This is truly one of the finest law firms I've had the pleasure to work with. We feel blessed that Marc took our case. He is a tenacious fighter does not accept the penny less than full and fair compensation. Thank you Mr. Breakstone.

Marc Breakstone exceed every expectation I had when choosing the right attorney to represent my dad. I selected him based on a friend’s recommendation. After reading his client reviews, I felt he would be the right lawyer for the case. My family and I are extremely grateful with the outcome of a Medical Malpractice claim he settled through mediation. It was obvious that Marc did his research and was well prepared, with full knowledge of the inadequate care given to my dad by a local hospital. With his interactive digital presentation at mediation, it took no time to persuade the mediator to advocate for our side. Marc showed full respect and beyond compassion for my family from day one. I felt as though we were his only client. He returned phone calls, emails, or text messages almost immediately, at all hours of the day or night, including weekends. My dad’s case was a difficult case that could have possibly been dragged out for years, however Marc was able to get it done without going to trial. I have the upmost respect for Marc and would highly recommend him without any hesitation.

Greg is a great attorney all around. He listens to your concerns, your opinion on the case, does the necessary research needed for any question. No matter how difficult the situation is, Greg is there to help. Whether it is a case that is a day long or one that is 3 1/2 years long, he always has the same positive attitude and work ethic. I would recommend him to everyone if possible. I’ve worked with him on both consults and on a case and am quite happy with all results.

first of all this was a crazy case that lasted 3 years with the twists and turns that a Hollywood movie couldn't write. Greg stuck with it the whole way, thinking through strategy, checking facts, law, consulting with other lawyers to make sure the strategy was sound. always on time, easy to get ahold of, and easy to work with. most of all takes what he does very seriously, and is great in court. i would absolutely hire him again if i ever have the need.

I initially went to Richard Grossack - or Rocky for short - through the suggestion of a family friend and my entire experience with him was above and beyond what I could have expected. Not only did he explain all of my options clearly and concisely, but he also communicated with me throughout the entire process and followed up with me afterwards. I highly recommend his services to anyone in need. Thanks again for everything Rocky!

Attorney Grossack was an absolute professional and was able to settle my case with almost no hassle at all. He was very confident and exhibited poise and expertise at all times. Attorney Grossack, as difficult as I may have been, never hesitated in returning my phone calls or emails or answering the many questions I had for him. I would highly recommend his services to anyone needing a personal injury attorney in Boston. Thanks Rocky.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Boston, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
