I hired Jonathan when my Disability benefits were cut off. He reviewed my case and knew exactly what to do. He outlined what needed to be done and was always two steps a head of the insurance company. My benefits were reinstated within 90 days and still today he always has my back. I give this attorney the highest rating and you would be a fool not to hire him!

Jonathan came highly recommended to me by my attorney, who asked if she could turn my file over to him bcz she wanted me to have the best. Our working relationship culminated in a 12-hour mediation, which cemented my already high opinion of him. He was kind & patient with me, and instilled a high level of trust as he built a case on my behalf. He successfully navigated the process with me, never condescending or short with me as some lawyers can be. I suffered a traumatic brain injury and he represented me as well as I could possibly have hoped for. I whole-heartedly endorse Jonathan Feigenbaum.

In 2011, my 54-year-old wife was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma. As I write this, my wife is preparing to fight this cancer for the third time. Due to the side effects of multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation my wife was in remission but severely disabled. To add insult to injury, just after she completed an 8-month clinical trial with a new chemo regime our insurance company terminated my wife’s contracted life and disability benefits. At this point I was so beaten down dealing with our health insurance carrier trying to secure treatment for my wife at Dana Farber and Brigham and Woman’s that there was very little fight left in me. I almost wrote off the life and disability benefits because my main focus was on finding a cure for my wife, since no amount of money could replace her. Then one day, I must have woke up in a bad mood because I called the lawyer who prepared our wills and she informed me that ERISA law was very specialized and she wasn’t qualified to help us prepare an appeal of the insurance companies decision. She gave us the number of another firm, however they also did not deal directly with insurance companies only social security disability. But before I got off the phone, the woman came back and told me {and I can remember her exact words} “ I’ve got the number of just the man you need”, and boy was she right!!! I called Jonathan’s number and explained our situation to his secretary and she said she would transfer me to an attorney. I felt she was turning me over to a junior associate, but was pleasantly surprised when Jonathan picked up my call. I explained our situation and Jonathan informed me that he usually doesn’t handle small cases but my wife’s case intrigued him and he would see what he could do to help us. The majority of our communication was through emails and faxes because phone calls would take up too much of Jonathan’s busy day. So we had to bone up on our computer skills as Jonathan navigated us through the appeals process and handled all communication with the insurance company. During the appeal process my wife had a PET scan and was informed that the cancer had returned. Jonathan was genuinely concerned with my wife’s heath and expressed his best wishes to us on several occasions. Needless to say Jonathan was successful in getting the decision to terminate my wife’s benefits reversed and has restored my faith in fairness and our legal system. I can’t say enough about Jonathan. He is professional, patient, {dealing with a couple inept at emails and faxes}, and very good at what he does. I can honestly say Jonathan went above and beyond to help us, and exceeded all our expectations. Sincerely, J and M

Inspired confidence and talked me through the process so I always knew what the current status was. Jonathan was a rock for me during my ERISA case after my LTD insurance company decided to stop my benefits. The entire process was stressful but I had Jonathan on my side helping me and giving me the confidence that I had chosen the best lawyer. Jonathan always kept me updated and if I sent a email or left a voice mail I would hear back within twenty four hours but usually on the same day. Jonathan always made time to listen to my concerns and he educated me on what was going on in my case. Jonathan was always professional and polite and most if all he listens and responds. Jonathan's experience with ERISA law is second to none! He is simply the best lawyer to represent you as I won my case thanks to Jonathan and thankful I found him to represent me. Thank you Jonathan! Greg is a great attorney all around. He listens to your concerns, your opinion on the case, does the necessary research needed for any question. No matter how difficult the situation is, Greg is there to help. Whether it is a case that is a day long or one that is 3 1/2 years long, he always has the same positive attitude and work ethic. I would recommend him to everyone if possible. I’ve worked with him on both consults and on a case and am quite happy with all results.

first of all this was a crazy case that lasted 3 years with the twists and turns that a Hollywood movie couldn't write. Greg stuck with it the whole way, thinking through strategy, checking facts, law, consulting with other lawyers to make sure the strategy was sound. always on time, easy to get ahold of, and easy to work with. most of all takes what he does very seriously, and is great in court. i would absolutely hire him again if i ever have the need.

I initially went to Richard Grossack - or Rocky for short - through the suggestion of a family friend and my entire experience with him was above and beyond what I could have expected. Not only did he explain all of my options clearly and concisely, but he also communicated with me throughout the entire process and followed up with me afterwards. I highly recommend his services to anyone in need. Thanks again for everything Rocky!

Attorney Grossack was an absolute professional and was able to settle my case with almost no hassle at all. He was very confident and exhibited poise and expertise at all times. Attorney Grossack, as difficult as I may have been, never hesitated in returning my phone calls or emails or answering the many questions I had for him. I would highly recommend his services to anyone needing a personal injury attorney in Boston. Thanks Rocky.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Boston, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
