I was lucky to speak with someone today about my problem with apartment community. I have lived here for 2 years and was ready to renew my lease for a 3rd year. I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer this year so it's been a tough one. My doctors could not tell me why I got cancer and it was a shock as I was VERY healthy. I recently found out that our community was built on a Superfund Site from a chemical co that dumped its toxic waste into the community years ago! I have always been very health conscience so if this had been disclosed to me during the lease signing I would have declined to live here. Nothing was ever mentioned to us until I "happened" across some information on it. If feel very mislead and almost as if it was being hidden from residents. I am from out of state so for me to research "am I living on a toxic waste site" would not have been in my thoughts. I am hoping people learn where they are living and HAVE A CHOICE to say no once it is disclosed!
