Geraldine McEvoy is excelent lawyer. She was able to ingest in very short time all details of comlicated long running case and present me in court. I also appreciate that she had to work on a weekend to prepare for the court on Monday. Comminications through email were quick and to to point. I was very pleased with successful outcome in my case!

The divorce process was incredibly difficult directly attributed to an ex-spouse's actions and also uniquely complicated with a special needs minor. Geri and her team handled the entire situation with care, professionalism and continuous focus on guiding me through every step. Our life is now tremendously better, safer and happier thanks to Geri.

I hired her for a very specific thing, not as a long term lawyer. I was trying to overturn an arbitrators decision with very good reason but none of those reasons or suggested solutions were ever presented go the court. We asked to overturn the decision with no cause other than we thought what was previously in place was best for the kids. She failed to mention the arbitrators rationale was seriously flawed, he didn't follow his own protocol, and I had a method of eliminating multiple parent to parent transitions without modifying the amount of time each parent had with the kid whereas in an attempt to reduce 1 transition, the time with each parent changed significantly with no grounds for a change in custody. You only get one shot to overturn an arbitrators decision and she really let me down.

I have been divorced for many years and am happily remarried. In 2018, my ex-spouse was causing a number of issues that were disrupting my marriage. I met with several family law attorneys in the area. I settled on Geraldine because of her no-nonsense direct approach and experience with similar matters. Geraldine stepped in, addressed the issues, and helped me when further communication was necessary. All was going well until I was hit with a modification. If I had given into the irrational demands, I would be making a good salary and penniless at the same time. Geraldine and her staff guided me through the process and negotiations, but the other side was unwilling to compromise. Ultimately, the modification went to court. Geraldine laid out my position and rationale, and was quick on her feet during debate. The result could not have been any better. I am grateful to Geraldine for her help over the past few years, and I rely on her to help me navigate the road ahead.

As the clients’ agent, she kept me in the loop at every touch point and reached out when appropriate so I knew how the contracts were progressing. Exceptional Legal Support for Home Purchase: Randy Barron, ESQ and Team We were fortunate to engage Randy Barron, ESQ and his exceptional team at Barron & Sweet to facilitate the purchase of our new home, and the experience exceeded all expectations. From the initial introduction to the final signing of the P&S, Randy and his team displayed an unparalleled level of professionalism and dedication that made the entire process seamless and stress-free. What stood out most was their commitment to going above and beyond. Despite the intricacies involved in real estate transactions, Randy and his team ensured an efficient and pleasant experience, normally not what one says about purchasing real estate! Their expertise shone through, guiding us at every step and making what could have been an overwhelming process remarkably smooth. One particular highlight was the team's extensive knowledge and deep roots in the area. They surprised us by sharing a historical plot plan from decades ago, a delightful piece of our new home's past. This unexpected treasure has proven immensely useful, especially recently when we required a notarized plan to review quickly. We wholeheartedly recommend Randy and the team at Barron and Sweet to anyone seeking legal guidance in real estate matters. They are not just legal professionals; they are partners dedicated to ensuring their clients' utmost satisfaction. Thank you, Randy, for your exceptional service!

Attorney Rubino is a highly skilled and experienced attorney with a great deal of insight, compasssion and intelligence. Every interaction is positive, encouraging, realistic and thorough. Attorney Rubino is an exceptional listener and will find ways to express your needs and opinions to the court with power and conviction. In my case she left no stone unturned, supported me throughout the entire process, was respectful and vigilant of cost and argued in the most impressive manner. This is most likely the highest recommendation I have ever written and I stand by it, an exceptional attourney.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Concord, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
