Update: 03/26/24 2:49pm Contrary to this business owners reply, I did not get angry. I simply told him he was being very rude and disrespectful seeing as I was not even able to finish a sentence without him telling me "I had already won," simply because I eventually had the procedure I needed. I understand the need for this business to save "face," but their reply is not true or accurate, and raises more red flags. I will continue to update as needed. I called this place after a reference from a friend. I wholly regret that decision. I called inquiring if a professional thought I had a medical negligence case. The first question the gentleman asked was "did I get the procedure I needed done?", my answer was yes, and after that this man would not hear another word out of my mouth without saying "then you already won," and that we wouldn't make any money on the case. If these people cannot take the time for a 5 minute phone call I would not trust them with anything. The gentleman continued to tell me he was being patient with me despite still cutting me off every 2 words. He was rude and condescending. I had to ask him multiple times if I could please finish my sentence. Get your advice elsewhere!

I can't say enough great things about this law firm. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I had the pleasure of working with Sharon Sybel as she was the attorney handling my case. She was very sympathetic and understanding to someone going through a difficult time. From start to finish during the entire process she was there to field any questions or concerns I had. She always responded in a timely manner either through phone calls or emails. I would highly recommend this company.

Let’s me start off by saying thank you to Ken, you are top notch!!! And I also want to thank these other reviewers because if it weren’t for you I wouldn’t have hired him. I had a very serious charge against me back in 2016, so I hired another attorney who I will not name. From the very beginning I had a bad feeling about the guy but I went against my better judgement. I would go to court hearings and he would literally show up at 2pm everytime! I explained to him that I was very concerned about the immigration ramifications more than that of the criminal consequences. He tried to get me to take the deal the prosecution was offering. Which to me was B.S. I would have to cop out to a felony and do some time in jail. If this was the case then I might as well have taken the case to trial. I told if I were to take the deal then immigration would almost certainly begin deportation proceedings and it was like this guy would not listen. Finally, I started looking for a new attorney as I did not like the direction the case was headed in. So I started looking on AVVO and I found Mr. Fredette. What caught my eye was not the amount of reviews he received but the context. So I went in for a consultation and after about 10 minutes of discussing my case I knew he was the guy. Ken is brutally honest, he doesn’t promise you anything but what he does promise and delivers on is 100% commitment to your case. After few pre-trial hearings he almost got the case completely dismissed. I ended up doing pre-trial probation. This is almost as good as a dismissal. No probation fees, no supervision, and most importantly, no record!! Let me add, the only reason why they didn’t give me a complete dismissal was because of a prior conviction I had. Bottom line is, if you’re in a bind call Ken! And I agree with one of the other reviewers who said Ken should charge a lot more for his services... your prices do not fit your results ! Thank you for saving my life Ken

Ken Fredette is a fantastic attorney and did a stellar job in my case revolving around a fraud allegations from a workers comp injury I suffered in 2009. I can say without reservation or hesitation, that Ken is not just a brilliant lawyer but is blessed with genuine concern for his clients and their welfare. He is everything a lawyer should be and more. His fees were more than reasonable and surprisingly lower than other lawyers with less skill. After defeating the insurance company by directive verdict and getting my felony charges sealed, I can now live a better life. I know now who to send all of my friends and family if they have a legal issue! Thanks again Ken. Your the best!!!!!!

Thank you Attorney Ken Freddette for representing my wayward brother. He has made some foolish choices in the past and deserved to have "the book thrown at him" recently. Your willingness to thoroughly research his case and carefully craft a superior argument on his behalf reduced his impending fines and penalties 100 fold. My family and I cannot thank you enough for your knowledge, skill, ability and compassion to defend the indefensible! You are indeed the American Cicero.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Fall River, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
