Nitin Dalal exceeded our expectations. We expected a positive outcome (which we did get in court), but Nitin in addition to our positive outcome personally wrote 3 police departments informing them of the false accusations against us so the police departments would do their own internal investigations. 1 of 3 has already provided us with their investigation notes on their review. I don't think a lot of lawyers would have taken this extra step, and when dealing with a false report from a vindictive ex, it really meant so much.

Attorney Nitin Dalal represented my 18 year old grandson on a first offense drug related matter. My grandson has a history of mental health issues which impacts his judgment. Attorney Dalal was engaged with my grandson & myself from the beginning. He took the time to become informed about the youth’s history to better understand how to represent him. He was extremely responsive to any questions that I had , replying to phone calls & emails promptly & keeping us informed regarding the process & his recommendations. In addition he contacted my grandsons treatment providers. Since my grandson needed additional support in the community to succeed Attorney Dalal also connected me to an advocate that might assist my grandson after his hearing. That was extremely helpful as he now will have a mentor that can support him in his goal of becoming self sufficient in the future. The outcome was very favorable for my grandson as he received a continued without a finding and probation. I would recommend Attorney Dalal highly and without reservation.

Joy has represented me twice, very successfully, for a child visitation and subsequent child custody case. This was a very long and drawn out process due to petulance, false accusations, petty tactics etc. I didn’t deserve such an incredible human. Nobody does. Joy might be an actual angel, not a human being….Her advocacy on my behalf healed more trauma than any doctor has even come close to. The sweetest , most cathartic vindication. I am passionate and not very well spoken when I feel there are injustices happening. My mouth has been my downfall since childhood. I don’t think any other attorney would have been able to fully understand me, and thus the case, the way Joy did. I was so nervous at first because at surface level, my situation could have been easily misunderstood and manipulated but it didn’t take long until I stopped getting nervous or angry at the antics of the narcissistic psychopath I was up against. I had 100% faith that Joy would bring justice to a very much needed situation. There aren’t enough words. The world doesn’t deserve her. I’m not kidding or exaggerating. At all. Warrioress.

Alison is truly an unique and an amazing lawyer. She was able to help me with someone who had taken a good amount of money from me and was non-compliant about their actions. Alison was decisive with her actions and within a month the problem was resolved. She explained to me what the process would be, and how it would work and how long it would take. She stayed in contact with me to keep me updated and she was very helpful even though she had a busy schedule. I am very thankful for her and I recommend her for everyone who needs a lawyer.

Simply phenomenal from start to finish. we could not have had a more kind and considerate lawyer. Karen Zahka gave our case all the time and attention that was needed to be successful during very difficult proceedings. My husband and I never once was treated as anything other than a valuable client by Ms. Zahka. We also appreciated working with people that care for us on a personal level instead of just handling us as a "case". Ms. Zahka was completely understanding, professional and worked very diligently to the end, and we were so grateful. Highly recommend!!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Milton, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
