He always remain an outstanding person on my mind but he recommended Thomas Feeney as someone readier to help me. Feeney turned out to be one of the most ungrateful and unethical human beings I would remember to have met in my life.

Yuliya Fisher-Nayyer is an excellent attorney. I had a tricky child support situation, where my ex was trying to get more than she actually was owed. Yuliya's careful reading of my divorce agreement allowed her to make clear arguments that convinced my ex and her attorney to accept the proper settlement, and we were able to resolve the situation with only one court date where the judge approved the agreement we had worked out. Yuliya was very honest in her assessment of my situation, and very clear in her explanations of what I owed and did not owe, which I appreciated because I did not fully understand the language in the divorce agreement and would probably have overpaid if I had not hired her. She also was completely committed to my case. She was excellent at communicating, both with me and the opposing attorney, and I never felt like my case was anything other than her top priority, even though I know she had many other cases at the same time. The advice she gave me was spot on, and everything worked out almost exactly as she had predicted, which is impressive given how many variables there were in my case. And she was also careful about how many hours she committed to my case so that I would not get overbilled for her services, which was a refreshing change of pace from lawyers I have dealt with in the past who seemed eager to rack up their billable hours. I really appreciate all the work she did on my case, and would hire her again in a second.

I had a very tough case about divorce and child issues, I was very depressed of all the negative impacts given by the other party until I met Yuliya. She is very conscientious about all the details, her attitude of working and her empathy has turned the table. I cant find enough kind words to express my sincere appreciation to her. I just want to say having her as my attorney is the most correct decision I have ever made, and I felt very fortunate to have worked with her and won the battle together. I also need to thank my friend who referred Yuliya to me!

I had the pleasure of working with Yuliya M. Fisher-Nayyer, Esq. I was on the verge of being railroaded by my soon to be ex-wife's attorney in our separation agreement. Yuliya took the time to explain the verbiage of the agreement and the consequences if I signed what I was given. It was a real eyeopener! I highly recommend Yuliya for and Divorce or Family legal issues. You will not be disappointed with her knowledge of the law and her ability to defend your rights as her client!! Thank you, Mark A. Johnson

It is great to have Kevin as my attorney. The divorce process was already stressful, and the first attorney I hired has caused me more troubles and delays. After being fed up with enough issues, I have browsed various websites to search for different attorney profiles and reviews. I have been glad that I made the right decision to hire Kevin to replace the prior attorney. When I first walked into Kevin's office, I was full of worry and concerns with the burden from my ex and my prior attorney. Kevin was able to calm me down and prepared me for the divorce process. And step after step, the outcome of the case has been much better than I had expected. I highly recommend Kevin to anyone whom needs a divorce attorney in the region.

Kevin renewed my faith in attorney's when dealing with a horrible experience with prior counsel during my divorce and custody battle. He not only communicated often, but truly cared about what results I wanted that was best for myself and most importantly, my children. He was instrumental in crafting the best case and truly being caring not only about the compounded issues in my case, but also my personal health as I was battling blow after blow of medical set backs during my case. I have never met a person more trusting and faithfully committed to his clients and would not ever look anywhere else for someone to represent me in a court room.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Natick, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
