FOUND NOT GUILTY BY THE JUDGE FOR SECOND OFFENCE DUI WITH OPENED CONTAINERS: NEW BEDFORD DISTRICT COURT: Attorney Doran is the greatest! Yesterday we beat the case for a second offence DUI with opened containers and I was found NOT GUILTY he is very optimistic, any questions you have or don't understand you can message him at any time, and ask what certain things mean and he will explain and not make you feel dumb, he is super quick with getting back to his clients! I have to say with the way my case was looking I had no hopes of beating this case, but Attorney Doran does his absolute best in explaining what's best for his clients, just listen and do as he says because he does show he's advocate! I would most definitely recommend Attorney Doran to family and friends!

Frank Doran helped me at a time when I really needed a stable force. He helped me understand the process and also assisted me to continue my vacation in order to keep my mental health stable during the process all the way to completion. I really appreciate his help during this long and arduous time. The results of my case was about as well and better than expected. Thank you, Frank!!

I recently had the pleasure of working with Frank Doran on a sensitive case for a close family member. Frank was not only very respectful of the circumstances pertaining to the case, but he was also understanding of my apprehension and fears about what an unfavorable outcome would mean for my family. Frank's knowledge and experience were evident in the confidence with which he managed the many questions we had for him and the care with which he walked us through the ins and out of the legal process and timeline of our case. But most importantly, Frank took the time to listen to our concerns and consider our suggestions when preparing for court. He consulted with us and made sure that we were comfortable every step of the way, and that we didn't felt pressure to make any one decision. Frank was a great partner during a very stressful time and we cannot thank him enough!

Pros
1
Exceptional legal expertise and experience in handling various cases, including criminal defense and other sensitive matters
“Frank Doran is by far the BEST attorney at law in Massachusetts! In my experience, he's deeply meticulous, highly concerned about his client's mental and physical health, he regularly keeps in touch with his clients during and after his clients are done in court, changes his schedules to meet the needs of his clients, helps with preparation of court and explains many avenues of the law. He has so much research and experience under his belt and never, never, never comes off egotistical or brash in any way.”
2
Highly responsive, communicative, and attentive to client needs
“Frank was extremely professional, straightforward, and supportive. He responded to my inquiry right away, and while he made no promises about the outcome, his demeanor put me at ease immediately.”
3
Achieves successful outcomes, including case dismissals, reduced charges, and favorable resolutions
“Frank helped me out in a jam a couple of months back, saved me from years in jail and was able to minimize it to just probation; even my probation fees were waved, this guy is the man.”
4
Provides clear explanations and guidance throughout the legal process, making clients feel informed and comfortable
“Frank Doran has extensive experience working to defend individuals who have been accused of certain heinous acts, and making sure these charges/cases result in a lawful dismissal. Frank was extremely thorough and knowledgeable, and was very courteous in his responsiveness and "matter of fact" way of explaining a proposed outcome.”
5
Highly respected and well-connected within the legal community, with a reputation for excellence
“Attorney Doran is very well respected in the courts and he always conducted himself in a very professional manner. Attorney Doran is very familiar with the rules of procedure in court and one can tell that he is a very experienced lawyer.”
Cons
1
Some clients have reported feeling pressured or hassled by the attorney, even after expressing that they no longer wish to retain his services
“I do not recommend this lawyer to anyone. Because I told him I don't want him to be my lawyer anymore, but he keeps texting me, calling me and leaving voicemails. On the day of the court trial he still showed up even though I called him the night before saying I don't want him, and that I will not hire him.”
2
Concerns about the attorney's fees being perceived as high or not aligning with the client's financial situation
“He is a bit expensive but I guess that is the price you have to pay for the quality.”

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Natick, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
