I called Brian Roman out of the blue one cold and desperate morning after spending the night in jail- charged with something I did not do. I was in tough shape. Yet, Brian’s voice calmed me down and gave me encouragement. He took the case, and over the course of 10 months, he saved my life over and over again. He even went to Police HQ with me one night to explain the law to some overzealous officers who were threatening to arrest me. He saved me from jail that night, and in the end, got the “Not Guilty” verdict that rang True. He worked hard for that verdict. And I know he’ll do the same for you. Brian knows his stuff, inside and out, and he’ll see that justice is served. And his fees are very reasonable. Brian is an excellent attorney.

Brian is an exceptional attorney. If Brian had not helped my fiance, unlike his public defender that my fiance had at the time stabbed him in the back at the last minute and he probably would be sitting in jail right now. My fiance is a good man and did not deserve to be treated that way. Brian was a life saver. Now my fiance is doing so very well and has grown a great deal. If it wasn't for Brian I don't know where we would be today.

As “out of towners” and unfamiliar with the area, and as “first timers” in dealing with legal issues, we were very relieved to have Brian’s expertise guiding us through the unknowns. He was straightforward, honest, knowledgeable and reassuring as we worked through our legal issue.

Three years ago, I bought a car from a shady dealer. It ended up being a lemon and costing me thousands of dollars out of pocket. Not knowing what to do, I was referred to Mandy Spaulding Law. She quickly took action. Even though we could have gone to court and got damages, I really didn't want to drag it out. She was able to completely rectify the situation and make me whole, within a few short weeks, without litigation. Fast forward to a new bind I found myself in with a former employer. Again Mandy, took action. This time, I swear my former employers head was spinning, with his attorney almost complaining about how fast Mandy is with the full force of all your legal protections. I can tell you unequivocally, that if you need Consumer Protection, Mandy Spaulding is an excellent choice.

Austin took the time to help me navigate the purchase of my home. I found Austin to be very professional and detail oriented when it came to the closing. He helped keep my head on straight when it came to the closing documents. He explained every step to me in a way that I could understand. Austin McHoule earned every penny and it was money well spent! Make the call, you won't be sorry.

Mr Duggan is absolutely the very best lawyer I have seen ! He does not deserve the 3.4 stars he has he deserves 10 star's out of 5 ! I had dealing with him and another party to defend ourselves against false allegations on 2 separate occasions and the allegations were absolutely false and Mr Duggan was on top of everything and researched everything in details and took extra time in his office to go over everything in details to be sure to defend the truth ! I have delt with other lawyers in the past that never put in that kind of effort EVER ! Not only did Mr Duggan go far and beyond his duties but His secretary sat with me unannounced and took her time to be there to collect information and go over it in details to provide the information with the attorney ! Once again I have never had seen or had an opportunity where the secretary would do this they have always told me to schedule an appointment for the attorney because they did not want to waste their time but here she was just as on top of things like Mr Duggan is ! In our case not only did he defend us but he proved the person who filed a false complaint against us was a liar right to the judge using her own word's and proved everything that party said was to harass us and to be able use the complaint on future hearings to smear us against a criminal complaint filed against that party for crimes they were charged with. Once again Mr Duggan deserves 10 stars not 5 and definitely not 3.4 ! His fees are nothing compared to what he did and his time invested in the services he provided ! He is less expensive than other attorneys but worth 10 times more than other attorneys ! May i never need another attorney again but if i do it will ONLY be him !

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of North Attleboro, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
