Reached out for a consult due to some confusion regarding my mother’s Medicaid coverage and her house while in a nursing home. Not only did they give me solid advice, but they let me know that what I needed to do did not require hiring them as it was simple. Now obviously this doesn’t mean they do service for free, but it has become clear to me that this group has solid morals. They also have several specialized members on the team to really help with all aspects of the complications that is elder law. I’d recommend them in a heartbeat.

Let's face it. Creating a will/trust is a scary experience for most of us and most put it off doing it, for too long. After my Mom passed, all hell broke loose because she'd done her will on an online service. PLEASE don't do this! Now not only was I devastated by her loss, but now the will situation was a mess with siblings showing their worst side. I had to retain an attorney and spend a year sorting it out. I learned this is not an uncommon problem. I vowed to never do this to my children. I am a single woman in my 60's who owns her own house. I called and met with Attorney Michael Hooker to finally create my will/trust. His office is in a nice location in Northampton and his kind paralegal/office manager made sure I had a reserved parking spot. I was pretty nervous, but they greeted me warmly, offering me coffee, water or hot chocolate. :) Attorney Michael Hooker and his son Attorney Jake Hooker were so professional, insightful and thoughtful. They ended up teaching me a lot! They answered all my questions patiently. And they got it done! Now my grown daughter has a copy of my will, as do the other beneficiaries. I feel so much better about my future and in protecting my loved ones! It didn't take long, it was affordable and it gave me peace of mind. My wife and I are trying to be proactive, not wait until there is a crisis. We have taken an extra long time to finalize the wills and such, but Michael has been very patient. He is clear about our options, carefully explaining the relative importance of the steps. Then saying it again the next time we meet so we do not forget. The environment at his office has been comfortable and pleasant. I think we have accomplished something positive.

Our family first met Michael in the fall of 2015 when it became apparent that our parents could no longer stay in their house safely. We were able to get our mother to an assisted living facility in NY, where I live. My father on the other hand was a completely different story. I was left with the choice of having to get forcible guardianship of him...not an easy task. Mike and his staff, especially Jill who was tasked with having to deal with my father, where able to achieve this for us ( he's a hand full). Being that I live in another state it was very difficult, Mike guided me thru the legal process that was effortless for me, especially when it came time to go to court. As a result we able to get our father reunited with his wife of 70 years. They lived out their final years together, well cared for. Our dad passed in May 2018, and our Mom in January 2020. From day one this was the goal. Mike and all the staff made this a reality for our family. The professionalism and more importantly, the compassion of this firm could not be overstated enough. It's 4 1/2 years later and Mike just finished guiding me through the will. He was there when this started and he was there for us at the end as well. Don't believe a negative review that is based on a phone call that was not returned, believe it on results. Our family received the results that we asked for.
