BUYER BEWARE, INDEED! MY FATHER WENT TO GREAT LENGTHS TO PROTECT ME FROM EXACTLY THE DEVASTATION TO MY LIFE THIS LAWYER CAUSED ME. IF HE SIMPLY STOPPED PAYING OUT CASH, MY LIFE WOULD STILL BE WORTH LIVING!! HE COST ME VIRTUALLY EVERYTHING I HAD!!! THE ENORMITY OF SUFFERING HE HAS CAUSED ME AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS LAWYER'S FAILURE ARE IMMENSE AND PERVASIVE AND AFFECT EVERY SINGLE ASPECT OF MY LIFE IN WAYS NO ONE WOULD EVEN BELIEVE! IT WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE, HIRING THIS "LAWYER!" IT HAS DESTROYED ME! HE COST ME MY ENTIRE "SPECIAL NEEDS TRUST" (LOOK THAT UP), PLUS, MANY, MANY, MANY, TENS OF THOUSANDS OF MY DISABILITY BENEFITS, AFTER THAT, JUST TO SURVIVE. AND, WHAT HE HAS COST ME CONTINUES TO ACCUMULATE IN MORE HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS PER MONTH STILL OUT OF MY OWN DISABILITY BENEFITS,AND MANY, MANY, MORE HUNDREDS THAT HAVE BEEN OFFERED TO ME BY FAMILY MEMBERS, AS I WRITE THIS.YOU SHOULD ALSO KNOW THAT, WITHOUT MY CONSENT OR KNOWLEDGE, HE DIVULGED MY PRIVATE, PROTECTED HEALTH AND LEGAL INFORMATION TO THIRD PARTIES, WITHOUT ANY COMPUNCTION OR APOLOGY! YES, I WAS, AND REMAIN OUTRAGED, BECAUSE THAT ONLY DID ME FURTHER HARM. THE PARTIES THAT HE DIVULGED MY PROTECTED INFORMATION TO ARE THE SERIOUS NARCISSISTS WHO WENT ON TO COERCE, BETRAY, BULLY, AND LIE TO ME. I WAS APPALLED AT HIS DECEPTION.AND THE OTHER PROBLEMS HE CAUSED ME ARE UNFATHOMABLE AND TOO NUMEROUS TO BEGIN TO LIST! HE COULD NOT HAVE DONE ANY MORE DAMAGE TO ME IF HE DELIBERATELY TRIED. DID I MENTION THAT I AM ELDERLY, DISABLED, AND ACUTELY ILL? AND NOW, IT'S SEVERAL YEARS LATER (APRIL, 2024). IMAGINE A DISABLED, ELDERLY, ACUTELY ILL PERSON ENDURING THAT? ALL OF THIS WAS A DIRECT CONSEQUENCE OF THIS LAWYER'S FAILURE TO CONCERN HIMSELF WITH MY "BEST INTEREST." OR WELFARE. I HAVE HAD A LONG TIME TO CONTEMPLATE THIS ISSUE. THIS WAS AN APPALLING LACK OF PROFESSIONAL JUDGEMENT, TO SAY THE LEAST. IF HE HAD DONE ANYTHING AT ALL TO PROTECT ME I MIGHT NOT HAVE LOST EVERYTHING. HE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT DAMAGE TO ME. Maybe, if he had bothered to CALL ME, I would have told him I Was, AND STILL AM, BEDRIDDEN AND SERIOUSLY ILL, MY ENTIRE LIFE AND FUTURE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY DESTROYED. I GUESS THAT WAS "TOO MUCH" TO ASK THIS "LAWYER." I GUESS THE SPECIAL NEEDS TRUST WASN'T PAYING HIM "ENOUGH." I DON'T KNOW, BECAUSE HE REFUSES TO PROVIDE RECORDS OF WHAT EXACTLY HE COST ME, OR MORE SPECIFICALLY, MY FATHER. HE ALSO REFUSED TO SEND ME MY LEGAL RECORDS, DESPITE SEVERAL DEMANDS. I WILL GO TO THE POLICE WHEN I AM ABLE TO GET OFF THIS BED AND WALK AROUND SAFELY. I AM NOT AT ALL FEARFUL OF ANYTHING I POST HERE, BECAUSE IT IS ALL TRUE, AND YOU CANNOT BE SUED FOR PUBLICIZING THE TRUTH! I WILL GET THOSE RECORDS, YOU CAN BE SURE. READ THIS AGAIN FROM THE TOP, PLEASE.P.S..HE GOT OFF ON A TECHNICALITY.

Paid him a lot of money to protect our estate. When it came down to it. He told us to just pay the family member. What did we pay him for if that was his advice at the end?

We were extremely pleased with Debra's services. Debra represented us as the sellers of 2 pieces of property with somewhat complicated scenarios such as property line changes and easements. She also handled an inexperienced buyer's attorney. We were extremely pleased. Also she is always available. We could send her an email at 8 PM not expecting a reply until morning but she was always replying. Strongly recommend her to anyone buying or selling a home.

Debra handled our closing in an efficient and detailed manner. She was very approachable and receptive to all of our questions and concerns. She gave excellent advice and even worked around our "Out of State" schedule to make the closing a convenient and pleasant experience. We enjoyed meeting her and would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone seeking good counsel on purchasing a home in the area. Thank-you Debra!

I can not say enough about the job attorney Debra Bodenstein provided me. She represented me for both buying and selling of properties and she had my best interest in mind at all times. When a problem occurred with the title to the condo I wanted to buy Debra worked tirelessly to find a satisfactory solution and made my purchase possible. She kept me updated at each stage of the process and was constantly available to answer any and all questions. Never having bought a home by myself before I found the process intimidating and some what overwhelming. Debra walked me through everything, explaining the process in terms I was able to understand. I would recommend Debra for any and all of your real estate needs.

First of all, Leila is wonderful. She is extremely professional and knows her work well. I was so pleased to have her represent me as my ex husband tried to avoid paying child support over the years. It was great to meet his attorneys and know that I was much better represented.

I found Catherine through the website and carefully reading other people's reviews and decided to give it a go, am I glad I did! Being a small business owner, it is really stressed out for me to dealing with the innocent infringement with large firm's lawyer. Catherine is not only personal, responsive, unlike other attorney I dealt with before, but also has great knowledge about dealing with infringement, within short period of time, we were able to settle the case. Thank you Catherine!!

We found Catherine while searching for Infringement attorney and contacted her office. The issue we had to deal with has caused a lot of stress and we were eager to get legal help quickly. Catherine didn’t make us wait and returned our call within 15 minutes. After first conversation we didn’t have to look any further. We decided to turn to Catherine with our copyright problem and have received an outstanding service every step of the way. Her experience and acumen were top notch, her communications with the opponents were sharp and on point. This was particularly important to us as the opposing party attorneys were set to drag the case much longer than needed. Catherine is not only a very knowledgeable attorney but also an amazing person - both of these qualities have made an issue so much easier to deal with. We will not hesitate to use Catherine in the future!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Northborough, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
