Insurance companies are notoriously difficult to deal with when the need to file a substantial claim occurs. It was no different for my son. Within a few months of purchasing his first home, a tree fell on it and caused significant damage. The insurance company wanted to pay a third of the cost to repair. While in negotiations for the full cost of repair, another tree fell on the house. This time, at the opposite end, resulting in additional, significant damage. When he filed the second claim, the insurance company accused him of fraud. He submitted additional photos, not only of his home, but of his neighbors, as well. Once again, the insurance company offered to pay a fraction of the cost to repair. Because I received excellent guidance from Andy with my estate planning when my son’s father died, I recommended my son contact him for guidance with the insurance claims. It was the best thing he could have done! From that moment on, Andy’s team went right to work and nearly two years later, the case was closed and my son had the funds to repair his home and reimburse me for the legal fees incurred. The difference in stress levels of trying to fight the insurance company alone and with no experience, versus having Andy’s team of experts leading the charge was a huge relief to this mother who just watched her young adult son lose his father and then, his home. Repairs will be long and arduous, but thanks to the law firm for their expert consultant, Jonathan Hornbeck, he will stay on as project manager to continue the work of recommending, hiring, coordinating, and managing resources to ensure my son’s home is safe and as beautiful as it was before the trees damaged it. Andy/Jon/Team, Now that this saga is behind us, on behalf of myself and our family, I would like to take a minute to thank you for all of your efforts on our behalf. Following the property loss that was experienced at Lori and our mothers home it was reported promptly to the insurance carrier. What followed were reasons that many people form a negative opinion of their insurance carrier. We experienced months of inaction on their part, delayed and inadequate remediation plan, lowball compensation proposals and punitive actions against us after questioning their response. Fortunately for us we had called your offices here in Pittsfield and were informed that you had assembled an in house team , comprised of specialists for exactly this type of scenario. After our initial meeting, where we discussed the details of our issues with the team, you all introduced yourselves, explained each of your roles, how you could hopefully provide an amicable solution and we agreed to retain you to do just that. It was the best decision we could have made. You had told us it might be a long process and it was but from the first day everything changed. Firstly, we were told not to have any direct contact with our carrier which was a big relief. Once they received Andy’s notice informing them that they would be representing us, all of a sudden they started responding…Wow! Then Jon stepped into high gear handling the day to day interactions, working with us so he could understand the scope of loss, find and coordinate with top local contractors to address lingering issues and mentor us as to our responsibilities in the process. This law firm by far is the most professional agency I've ever come across. I am so thankful they represented me in my case and they won! They went further and beyond what was expected of them.
