If you are taking the time to read these reviews, you are more than likely in the same extremely stressful, nightmare of a situation I was in before I made the call to Attorney Sam Caccavale. Trust me when I tell you, it is absolutely worth making the call. Sam was and still is incredible. My workers comp. injury case was dragged out for almost 2 years because my company and the insurance company fought us every single step of the way and I can honestly say Sam is the reason I got treatment and benefits. He is right there with you through every step and knows exactly what needs to be done. He is always on the ball with what you need to be successful in the fight you will more than likely face. He is very well respected by the Judges you will go before and they all were impressed with his work. One of the things as a client, I appreciate most about Sam is his honesty. There's no question that he is looking out for your best interests. He's a good man and it shows. So if you're in a tough spot and need legal help, do yourself a huge favor and call Sam. -Chase

Sam was super helpful with my case. From answering every question I had, taking time and consideration with every step we had to take, and just being super easy to talk to.

I was referred to Attorney Sam Caccavale by another law firm for a workers compensation case. Sam was incredibly honest and clearly looking out for my best interest from the moment I started speaking with him. I ended up not using this firm because my incident happened in Vermont and it made more sense to keep the case in Vermont. Sam informed me I could switch the case over to Massachusetts but told me I might want to talk to a Vermont attorney first to see what my best option was. I immensely appreciate his honesty and desire for me to make the best decision for myself. His decision to look out for me rather than attempt to get money from my case shows clearly the type of person he is. I’ll absolutely be recommending this firm to anyone I come across needing representation in Massachusetts.

Powers & Caccavale, I can’t thank you enough. Your firm was very responsive to my case and kept me informed about each and every progress they made on my behalf. I want to say thank you for all your hard work and I’m very pleased with the outcome of the case. A job well done! Sam’s my hero without the cape.

I had the pleasure of working with Christopher Fiorentino of Fiorentino Legal, P.C. following a vehicle accident, and I can't recommend him highly enough. After feeling overwhelmed and not knowing where to turn for representation, I found Chris through a Google search and decided to give him a chance. That decision was the best one I made. Throughout the entire process, Chris was incredibly attentive, responsive, and kept me informed every step of the way. His clear communication and dedication gave me confidence, and I felt fully supported during what could have been a stressful experience. Not only did he represent me well, but he also helped me understand the legal process and kept me in the loop from start to finish. If you're looking for a lawyer you can trust, Chris is your guy. You won’t regret choosing him. While I hope I don’t need legal representation again, if I do, Chris will always be my go to attorney, and I would highly recommend him to family and friends. Chris helped my mom out with a claim against an insurance company for an injury she suffered from a car accident. Chris was able to explain the process to her with exceptional detail, and never made her feel like she was asking stupid questions. He set appropriate expectations, so that we knew what to expect and followed through with his promise and his commitment. His hard work and dedication to his service, along with his years of experience in the law showed while working with my mother and inevitably led to a very favorable settlement with the insurance company. After his work with my mother, I continue to recommend his services to my friends and family should they need legal counsel or assistance and I’ll continue to recommend him.

I met Diane while helping a friend find legal representation in an emergency situation. While I was not the client, I was closely involved throughout and was impressed with her abilities. She is smart, knowledgeable, realistic, efficient, and caring. She is highly qualified, and was thoughtful in her approach, resulting in an efficient use of resources. She quickly responded to calls and emails and was straightforward in discussing the chances of the case. I highly recommend Diane.

I have retained Diane Shields for two very difficult cases. One about 13 years ago for my daughter. Atty. Shields worked very hard on her case, and most importantly she won the case. I seeked her help again recently for myself, remembering her outstanding knowledge of the law and finding solutions for complex real estate tenant/landlord case. Diane Shields, is prompt, she listens to her clients attentively, she processes oral information in a correct matter. She speaks the truth, and charges accordingly. She is worth her rates and then some. She took a case that many lawyers refused to take. She has many qualities that make her a great attorney. She takes her time, and gives it her all. I presented my case to many attorneys before going to Ms. Shields and will highly recommend her if you are looking for an attorney that is honest, caring, and takes her job very seriously. She will answer your questions, she writes very well, and is not afraid to fight for your rights. Sincerely,

I recently reached out to Attorney Samuel for an initial consultation, and unfortunately one minute into the conversation she realized that I do not live in one of the counties that she services. Despite this fact, she proceeded to discuss my case with me and provided me valuable insight. Her breadth of knowledge, compassion, professionalism, and sense of reason so impressed me that despite the fact that I am unable to engage her to represent me, I felt compelled to write a review. For anyone in need of her services and is fortunate enough to reside in the appropriate county, I would not hesitate to utilize her services.

Jaye represented me through a particularly complex and lengthy divorce where child custody was a factor. She was a consistent, empathetic, and solid support, and she always took the time to help me understand and navigate an unfamiliar process. I would highly recommend working with Jaye.

So this happened when my father was looking for a lawyer since the lawyer i had didnt have great communication skills. My father wanted to get a second opinion from another reputed lawyer. My father and i spoke to Jaye. She was kind enough to provide over 3 hours of free guidance. She didnt demand to get any payment (very unusal of a lawyer to give free advice). She knew she couldnt represent me as she didnt work with Essex county. She was always available to give me free advice and guide me in the right direction when i needed her support. Lawyers like her will keep your legal fees low and help you get out of the divorce as quickly and as elegantly as possible. She understood where i was coming from and more than that she understood what a father goes through during this tough time. It is unfortunate she didnt work with my county. She is very competent, great work ethics and treats her clients like humans. Again if she can represent you in your county, please do not hesitate to reach out to her. She is the best out there. All the best Jaye S. and thanks again for all the hard work you put into guiding me and making my life easy.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Quincy, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
