Excellent legal skills and expertise in family law
“He grabbed the bull by the horns saying some brilliant things that lifted my spirits & feeling of confidence. He was collegial with opposing counsel, masterful in front of the judge, brilliant in his cross.”
2
Cares about clients and their best interests
“He was fair with his pricing and fee schedule as well. In all he handled everything with style and grace and I wouldn't hesitate to pass his card along should someone close to me ever require this type of service.”
3
Responsive and communicative with clients
“He kept me informed every step of the way and represented the outcome of my case honestly and accurately.”
4
Ethical and professional conduct
“Attorney Emmanuel Dockter not only gave me a piece of mind on the welfare of my daughter but he also gave me back my sense of faith that there are honest lawyers/people in the world that conduct their business with integrity.”
5
Willing to go the extra mile for clients
“He would remind me of hearing date and if I had a problem he takes care of it right away before you even ask him too.”
Cons
1
Lack of preparedness and attention to detail
“Unprepared for court appearences with poorly written motions leaving out many important facts even when supplied to him as they were done at the last minute.”
2
Slow to respond to client needs
“I did not see the professionalism stated in their reviews. What I clearly observed was an attorney that was slow to respond to your needs until the day before and even the night before court hearings.”
3
Potentially overconfident and dismissive of client concerns
“I also heard from a colleague that he badmouths his clients afterwards - in a way that makes him vulnerable to a slander lawsuit in fact - I experienced this personally, very grateful to my new attorney sharing with me what Emmanuel had said to him.”

This attorney is hotheaded, which is not what is needed in an already heated legal scenario . He’s also arrogant and condescending which is also not helpful when trying to navigate a difficult legal scenario - I know because the judge in my case clearly had a disdain for him because of it and ruled against my order . I also heard from a colleague that he badmouths his clients afterwards - in a way that makes him vulnerable to a slander lawsuit in fact - I experienced this personally, very grateful to my new attorney sharing with me what Emmanuel had said to him. Honestly, I’m very happy to see his political attempts fail time and time again as he’s definitely not what the Southshore needs. Should his repeated attempts ever be successful I will feel the need to step forward. . He goes on luxury vacations with his family while using his mom’s difficult experience and his upbringing as a political ploy in the hopes for sympathy or pathetic attempts to relate to other hard-working citizens and Hanover. He’s dishonest at worst and disingenuous at best.

When you hire Emmanuel Dockter, you hire a true advocate for yourself. He is a seasoned professional that knows the law and how best to present your case to the judge for a favorable outcome. When researching attorneys for my transition from child support to alimony - I knew that I needed someone with courtroom experience, intelligent arguments, and excellent negotiation skills. A friend of mine had used him for a messy divorce case where child sharing was an issue and was very pleased. I wanted someone to fight my case. I got so much more than that, Emmanuel was sensitive and aware of final costs, clear and effective communicator, clearly passionate, he actually listened to me and I felt like he cared. That fact alone surprised me and was a very different than my prior attorney experiences. Alimony laws had been changing – I had no idea what to expect. I was nervous going in, but after meeting with Emmanuel, I felt that he would be the one to help me - - and he did! The outcome of my case was better than I had anticipated.

I am a past client. I wanted to give some time between my dealings with this attorney and posting my review so I could perhaps post most objectively. This is the first time I have completed an online review for this sort of professional services. However, I feel so adamantly about the lack of professionalism and expertise of this attorney, I have been prompted to rate him wherever possible to save other potential clients during what is likely this most vulnerable time of life. As suggested in the title, I had a very similar experience to the previous poster. However, I will add that this attorney was further unprofessional and unethical by talking about clients to unrelated others - both to me about other clients and about me to other unrelated people who then passed on to me what they referred to as "inappropriate and unprofessional comments" by him - inflating his billing, submitting unclear, incorrect Motions, and arrogant overconfidence in the Courtroom which ultimately hurts his client and doesn't bode well for trying to settle with the opposing attorney. I was originally interested in his practice because of his partner who is older and seemed to have lots of experience, but he answered the phone and I ended up stuck with him. Anyway, I later observed that she seems to not do much beyond being a figurehead anyway. I would adamantly discourage anyone from hiring this attorney. There are plenty of other options out there - many good ones, but this is not one of them.

I retained attorney Dockter based on the reviews made by past clients in Avvo. In my six months of working with this attorney I did not see the professionalism stated in their reviews. What I clearly observed was an attorney that was slow to respond to your needs until the day before and even the night before court hearings. Unprepared for court appearences with poorly written motions leaving out many important facts even when supplied to him as they were done at the last minute. This happened to me several times and it was the same excuse of an emergencgy meeting. Well if that is the case dont write your motion the night and day before, prepare correctly. When you interview with him you will meet a man of confidence who is quite intelegent about the law. When it comes to him representing you, this will no longer be reflected and you would have retained an attorney that has his own self serving agenda in mind which is where he uses his intelegence. He is what is known as a rainmaker in this industry. He will talk a good story and once retained you are stuck. You will then discover his lack of getting work done with court dates around the corner and no work done on your case. He will tell you to work on something for the case and then not touch it for days if not weeks. He even changed his position on main goals of my case he should have addressed in the initial interview. Do not hire this attorney. I guarentee you will regret such an action and you will say I should have taken the advice of this reviewer

Attorney Emmanuel Dockter not only gave me a piece of mind on the welfare of my daughter but he also gave me back my sense of faith that there are honest lawyers/people in the world that conduct their business with integrity. I would highly recommend Attorney Emmanuel Dockter to anyone that is in need of an Ethical, Meticulous and Professional Lawyer who as Attorney Emmanuel Dockter wrote to my daughter's father's lawyer will "resolve the case without wasting the client's time or money."

I meet Jenna in 2014 so this review is overdue, but she handled a couple of things for me and I was very satisfied with her service. She was so knowledgeable and available to answer questions with immediate response. I can’t thank Attorney Wolinetz enough. She really made me feel less nervous going through the ordeal.

i found attorney Wolinetz on line about two years ago and she has meet all of my expectations more than I could have amagined. Since that time I've refferred severel people to her because I believe she is honest and fair in handling matters. Thanks to Attorney Wolinetz I've been able to settle many matters that were lingering in my life. The only way I would use another attorney is if she feels she couldn't handle the case.

After interviewing a million lawyers I hired Ms Wolinetz to handle my situation. The situation is a complex civil matter with a lot of moving parts. A lot attorneys I spoke with were qualified but were looking for a case with a larger return. Still others could not handle the detail. We're not done yet but I would consider an interview and consult with Ms Wolinetz appropiate for anyone needing assistance in her areas of law.

Attorney Shabnam successfully saw me through the purchase of my first home. She made what could have been a stressful experience a very pleasant one. Her expertise on the subject matter was clear. Her professionalism and knowledge put me at ease. She was always personally available for any questions I had during the entire process. Attorney Shabnam ensured all legal aspects were taken care of from purchase and sale to closing. I felt confident in her ability from our very first conversation. I highly recommend attorney Shabnam's legal counsel to anyone purchasing a home.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Quincy, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
