There are few things more terrifying than being accused of a crime you didn't commit. I am grateful to have had a strong defense lawyer like Phil on my side. He explained everything so that I could understand it, and thoroughly prepared me for the hearing. Phil was responsive and made me feel like my case was important to him. I am happy to report that we won my case. I would recommend Phil to anyone.

Working with Attorney Philip was an amazing experience. Before meeting Philip, I was in a panic as I had received an offer from as a federal contractor and I had to do an FBI CORI which required fingerprints. I had called the lawyer who had worked on my case and tried to get him to Seal and Update my FBI CORI but his response was “there’s nothing we can do.” That is when I went online to do my research and that’s how I landed on attorney Philip’s website. I read through the testimonies on his website but I had to say, I was skeptical at first because not everything that’s on the internet is real. I followed my gut & called attorney Philip’s office. Philip was extremely knowledgeable about the FBI Sealing and Updating CORI process and he was able to answer all my questions. It felt great working with a lawyer that was confident in his work. Philip returns phone calls and emails promptly. Once I handed all the required documents he needed to work on my case, it took him 5 days to give me the exciting news that my FBI CORI was sealed and that the FBI update will be effective within 17 weeks. I highly recommend Philip and I will hire him again for any legal issues.

Based on my experience, I would highly recommend Phil to be your lawyer to represent you and your situation. I was able to quickly connect and talk to him about my specific difficult situation and without hesitation immediately started to work on my case. Throughout the process he was always available to talk and was very proactive in address the situation. He kept updated throughout the process. When it came to resolving the issue, he explained everything in detail and ultimately helped to mediate the case and resolve the issue to my complete satisfaction. He was able to communicate and keep me updated. Very professional and organized.

He has been my defense lawyer in a number of matters and has always argued MY side and been thoroughly prepared. I have also watched him represent many others in court and whether it is a crack addict or a white collar criminal he argues zealously in support of his client

Michael was able to lay out my options, and the pros and cons of those options - extremely quickly. His advice helped me navigate an otherwise prickly landlord situation. Thanks Michael!

Michael is incredibly fast, to the point, and very helpful. I consulted him for an issue with a general contractor, which was time sensitive, and he got to the bottom of the issue within hours. You want him on your side.

Attorney Kraft recently represented me in court helping to recover some money that I am owed. I am so glad he was there with me. He knew all the right questions to ask and the way he assisted my husband and me was a tremendous help to us both. I have such confidence in him that I expect he will be helping me with further issues on this matter. I just feel more comfortable having Attorney Kraft by my side.

Addressing legal issues is no one's idea of a good time: you're dealing with something important, and it can be stressful worrying about whether it's going to be done right, and whether you're going to be taken advantage of in the process. What you want is someone who knows his stuff cold, really takes your side, and treats you fairly and respectfully. That's Ed. He's done all our important contract work - and has helped me navigate an issue at municipal court. He's extremely efficient, explains it all in easy to understand terms, and helps you make the right decisions. It takes the stress out of the process - which is a big deal - and even more importantly, has gotten me successful outcomes (an even bigger deal!). Like finding a excellent and trustworthy doctor or a mechanic, you need to have a go-to guy as a lawyer. Ed is it. I fully recommend.

A friend referred me to Attorney Krippendorf because my case was complex and required someone who was sharp and skilled in both criminal and divorce law. Before I could focus on my divorce case and custody of my children, I had to overcome a criminal case that was wrongly brought against me. Nonetheless, Attorney Krippendorf guided me through the process and had the criminal case dismissed so we could then focus our efforts on the divorce proceedings. From the beginning, he wanted to understand my needs and what I wanted in the end. His strategy was based on that and throughout the process, he informed me on what we needed to do to achieve that. He communicated with me and answered all of my questions during this time. He was extremely responsive to me and proavtive in our cases. Divorce and custody battles are not easy things to go through, especially at the same time but I am happy with my experience with Attorney Krippendorf. He got me more than what this state typically awards a father. He understood what I wanted and he fought for it. For knowledgable, experienced and honest representation, I would strongly recommend Attorney Krippendorf.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Westwood, Massachusetts?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
