I would absolutely hire Mr. Wyatt again, and was indeed more than satisfied with the results of my DUI case. He remained committed throughout the process to ensure the best possible outcome. I needed to secure his services once again during the sentence to protect my rights against a "private agent" of the court, and Scott worked diligently on my side to assure everyone involved played fair.. with better results than I could have ever expected.

When people say they have a great lawyer and, someone they can recommend, there is a natural inclination to still feel uneasy. What do you mean by a "great lawyer" they ask me. Why do you recommend him? In short: Scott F. Wyatt represents something more than just your run-of-the-mill attorney. A man who will not only treat you like family, but is passionate about doing so! When I first met Scott F. Wyatt the attributes that struck me immediately were: His attentive nature, calm disposition and "one of the good ole boys" attitude. I never felt rushed or worried when we were sitting in the courthouse before trial. In fact, after we went over how we were going to approach the trial, we kicked back and talked fishing, sports, music (dude has some great taste) and a little philosophy. This made my very stressful situation seem like dust in the breeze at times. Now, he's where his true talent comes into play. I was in quite a bit of trouble. I had a potential DUI, which, in my opinion, was wrongly accused. I felt like there was nothing I could do, though. That is, until Scott Wyatt looked over my case. He made sure we covered EVERY avenue, EVERY nook and cranny. By the time we were done he had amassed for me a case that was not only expertly constructed, but also passionately. This is because Scott Wyatt doesn't do this just for the money, he has STRONG CONVICTIONS towards helping his client and an abusive system that manipulates the weak. Trust me when I say that if you are the underdog, he's the best man in the business to even those odds. As mentioned previously, I was so intimidated, I was so frustrated. He raised my spirits and my confidence, but he never promised me something he could not do. He reminded me, "Look Josh, we got a strong case, but there's a chance we don't come out of this without a black eye.", but when I made my decision to take this to trial, he was behind me 100%. To make a long story short, we pressed on, it was a battle of attrition. He showed me how to present myself to the judge, told me to get recommendations from work, my union, family, friends, community service. Then first of many settlements approached... A year probation, fines and a lowered charge. However, it would've stayed on my record and I wasn't going to stand for that. When I showed my desire to fight, I could have sworn I saw the fangs of a lion in his smile. So, we declined and pressed for trial. After a few more lack luster settlements, the day before trial, I got a phone call. They wanted to settle... I went to court and the results were in: Expired tabs, what I was ORIGINALLY pulled over for. I couldn't believe it, but Scott could. After the trial we kicked back at my house by the pool, had a barbecue and smoked some well deserved cigarettes. To me, Scott is MUCH MORE than just your run-of-the-mill paper work lawyer. He's a true diamond in the ruff. There is no better man in Michigan for your legal troubles. He's passionate, strong, believes in his ability to succeed and will make you feel like family. So, when I say I have lawyer for you, I mean much, much more than that. I have not only a lawyer for you but someone who, after my experience with him, I can call on as a friend. Who looks out for his client like the alpha wolf leads the pack. So when your legal issues look too tough, I recommend Michigan's "diamond in the ruff" Scott F. Wyatt.

Scott is an incredibly thorough and intelligent attorney. He covered every possible base for me in my case. He also tirelessly worked to make sure we were prepared for court. I would not hesitate to hire Scott again, he is an excellent attorney and on top of everything else, truly cares.

Mr. Wyatt provided excellent advise on a contract negotiation. His advice saved me thousands of dollars by exposing loopholes in the contract that could have been exploited to increase my fees. I highly recommend his services.

Mr. Scott Wyatt is a true professional. His guidance and advice saved me jail time, potential loss of employment and fines. My case revolved around a weapon that was accidentally left in a bag that was used for a suitcase that was brought to the airport. The result wasn't just embarrassing. Over the next 2 months Mr Wyatt provided counsel and advise on handling the situation. He also found an expert counsel for additional support. Few people could have provided this level guidance while also being a sound and calming voice of reason. I hope I never need a lawyer again but would absolutely call him if I did.

My experience with David Nacht (and attorney Adam Taub and the terrific staff) has been nothing short of exceptional. Grappling with complex employment issues that could negatively affect the rest of your life, you must have a top shelf attorney; you need the best. His name is David Nacht. Brilliant, responsive, professional, kind, straightforward and extremely effective - there’s no one better. From our first meeting until the successful resolution of my case, I could not have been in better hands. Thank you David. I am forever grateful.

Jeff and the Abood Law Firm are nothing but exceptional. Throughout my life and career, I have had multiple experiences with attorneys and I have never come across an attorney as trustworthy, skilled and reliable as Jeff. Jeff and his team really helped me through a tough situation and exceeded my expectations. He listened, answered questions, gave priceless advice and really was just there for me during the entire process. From divorce to traffic tickets, Jeff is more than qualified to handle any scenario you have. I would personally recommend him to family, friends or anyone that wants an attorney that you can trust and gets results. Not too many attorneys out there like him.

Donna is a great person, precise, honest, easy to reach out and communicate with at personal level. She managed my divorce process in a very professional manner. She had to deal with a very difficult, unprofessional, time wasting lawyer of my X-wife, Erica Brown, Thank you Donna for getting me through the most difficult time of my life.

Exceptional Lawyer !!!! I spent a week consulting lawyers about our case, they all needed to do research before agreeing to take the case. I emailed Mrs. Donna Medina at 1:15 a.m. on a Sunday morning regarding our urgent case, she called me back at 3:30 am and gave instructions on how to proceed. That Monday, Donna stepped into a highly complicated case and showed exceptional legal prowess. The instructions from the 1st session wound up being pivotal to the case being resolved in our favor. She guided us through a complicated process taking over 2 years and four courts to resolve. She managed the technical/legal process while acting as a counselor to help keep our emotions intact. She kept the 'Family' in family law. No call, email or text went unanswered, she was extremely responsive. Donna’s experience, professionalism and attention to detail stood out as our case moved all the way to the State Supreme Court for rulings. We watched as Mrs. Medina respectfully coached multiple judges on the law/court procedures because our case was so unique. One day after court, I told my wife "it’s like watching Micheal Jordon in the court room". Retaining Donna was a slam dunk for our family! We are most impressed with how she follows up just to see how things are going even after the case is resolved.

I honestly don’t even know where to start with this review. Donna Medina is one of the best people I have ever met. I had an extremely complicated child custody case, and she handled it SO perfectly. She truly cares about me and my girls. She was there for me emotionally and always made me feel like I was her only case , even though I knew how busy she was. She was always so professional, handled everything with such a great attitude. And let me tell you, it was not easy dealing with what we were dealing with. She truly made me a stronger mother and showed me how to stand up for myself. I truly went through the worst times of my life dealing with my case and I swear she made it “not that bad”. I don’t know how I could ever thank her enough. If I could give a million star review I would. Highly highly recommend her.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Birmingham, Michigan?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
