Scott Moore worked very hard as my Attorney to understand my case and full filled his promise to fight on my behalf in the Court to have the criminal charges dropped. When ever I spoke to Scott he would spend the time listen and answering all questions to learn the best way to resolve the matter... Thank You

I have not yet had the privilege of working with Mr Moore in an actual court room but the reason for my rating here is while looking for an attorney for a pending case Mr Moore was very quick to respond and gave me a lot of valuable advice to use even if I DIDN'T retain his services. He was not just about the money he seems to really show a level of professionalism as well as a true concern for even potential clients. He was very reasonable with his fees and was very straight forward. In my opinion Mr Scott Moore is someone worth his weight in gold and if all goes well I will be retaining his services fully. I think a relationship with an attorney starts with the time you dial their number and from the time Mr. Moore called me back until we hung up i think he has earned my trust.

I was searching for an Attorney through Legalmatch.com about a warrant for my arrest that had been issued a year ago. Every day, for a year I worried I would get pulled over and arrested and creating a bigger financial burden. I hated living in fear everyday so I finally took the steps to obtain an Attorney. My real issue with most Attorneys' is, I feel they take your money and your problems drags out for a lengthy time before it is dealt with or resolved. I received many responses from Attorney's on Legalmatch.com and I made my decision after reading their Bio's, reviewing their outrageous fees, and talking to them on the phone. After reviewing the Attorney's, I called Attorney Scott Moore on a Friday and did not have to play the voicemail or waiting game to talk to him personally. I made an appointment to meet with him on Monday in my living area, since I was afraid to risk driving any distance. Scott was more than happy to honor my request. We arranged to meet at Starbucks at a precise time. When I arrived Scott was already there. It is important to me that he realized my time is as valuable as his and did not keep me waiting. I have to admit I did have some fear going there and meeting with him not really knowing what to expect because of my outstanding warrant. We had a couple cups of coffee while I explained my situation with the warrants and a couple of additional law enforcement issues I have. Scott was a good listener and made me feel I could relax and be honest with him. After an hour of discussion he gave me advice and told me his opinion of how I should handle my legal problems and the steps that I should take. I fet confident and comfortable that Scott was the Attorney for me, as I listened to his own stories and background in law. Within 3 days of first meeting Scott, he had already scheduled a court hearing for me about the arrest warrant that was issued , the court date was set at that time for the following Thursday. Court day, when I met Scott, I explained that I was afraid to go to the court because I had other legal issues and was afraid of being arrest and if the judge wanted money at that time for fines or bail that I was absolutely broke. I asked Scott if he would go alone. We met across from the court house and again Scott was already there waiting for me. He explained I should go with him but he would understand if I would not. I decided to sit at the restaurant across the street from the court house while Scott went in front of the Judge without me. A half hour later Scott called me on my cell phone and asked me to come over to the court house that he had spoke with the Judge and I would be fine. I was worried I was going to be arrested for the warrants if I went in there. Scott assured me this would not happen and I would be alright. I put my trust in Scott and went in front of the judge. The arrest warrants and $5,000 bail bond were completely dropped. I feel relief and nothing but gratitude for how quick and efficient Scott handle this. This is the reason I hired Scott I just felt that I could trust him and he had my best interests at heart and not just out to make a dollar. I could not have asked for a better Attorney, he did more than an excellent job for me. I would like to add, that I have already seen progress in my addition legal issues in this short time. Scott has a wonderful legal aid that is always available for any information I need about my case and by using Jeff for such things as updates is a good way to cut some cost. If I need to talk to Scott Moore directly he has always answered my calls and been available or returned my call within an hour.

My name is Richard Miller, past Undersheriff, 911 director, State Police graduate, Emergency Management director, Patrol Service Commander and a Michigan State University graduate from the Civil Engineering School on Accident Crash Reconstruction along with serving on the Governor Engler Board making policies for law enforcement standards. There enough said. In my close to 40 yrs of law enforcement I have had several encounters with attorneys, both good and bad and I see so many played up commerical on how they all the ones to go too. I need to set the record straight but never in my life have I seen such a polite, dedicated attorney at JJ Klaus from Clare. This is being said by my heart and not through a paid commerical. He practices in Clare and is a dedicated family man and father with a wonderful wife who serves as a Probate Judge Marcy Klaus who also is serving for what is best for everyone. JJ Klaus has impressed with his knowledge and most of all his genuine care for his client. I am writing this without him knowing so I hope I have not violated any rules for voicing my opinion but being a Public servant I owe you the truth as I was sworn to protect you and believe me you dont need a fancy commerical to get a great attorney as I believe JJ Klaus attorney at law will take care of your needs. We are lucky to have him and his family in Clare as we are better served with such a person that REALLY CARES. My apology if I crossed some ethic line, but I felt compelled to let the people know in our area or surrounding area that we are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable attorney to help someone in need. Thank You for your services and dedication...RICHARD MILLER, RETIRED UNDERSHERIFF.

Ms. Smith Hoerauf has handled 2 divorces and several business matters for me. I was impressed with her professionalism when dealing with myself and the other litigants. She presented legal choices to me and also listened to my wishes and needs and was able to accomodate both. She was very responsive to questions I had, kept me informed regarding my requirements for paper work and court appearances and walked me through what I could expect on the actual court date. All of this helped me to remain calm and focused, even during stressful and difficult times.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Clare, Michigan?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.

Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.

  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
