I had the privilege of hiring Attorney Mike Bullota to join my son’s case, and I cannot express enough gratitude for his incredible work. From the very beginning, Mike’s thoroughness and dedication were evident. First and Foremost I would like to say thank you to the firm of Lee Steinberg, I did an online chat on Thanksgiving Day 2023 because I hired a small firm and I felt my case was not being handled I just kept getting shifted to paralegal’s 6 of them. Mr. Lee Steinberg called me immediately addressing my concerns and then I had the great experience of meeting Brian who signed me up and brought my case to the firm. Lee and his firm called to introduce themselves even his son Scott formally introduced himself over the phone. If you have a tough legal situation I highly recommend attorney Deborah G. Ford. I was setup by my daughter's mother for a domestic violence charge and needed to prove my actions were in self defense myself. Attorney Ford's years of experience as a trial attorney and judge afforded me the ability to utilize the best possible defense for my case. I initially contacted Attorney Ford to have the plea I took set aside and taken to trial. Originally I chose to handle my case pro Se and made the mistake of taking a no contest plea. I was trying to keep things simple and keep the cost of the litigation down to a minimum. At the time I was unaware of how much of a negative effect a no contest plea could have on my custody case if it was used against me in the family court. Attorney Ford is very straight forward, when I was deciding to hire her she told me that she believed she could get the plea set aside but offered no guarantee. During the hearing Attorney Ford used logical reasoning along with slightness of technicality to compel the judge to approve our motion to set aside the plea. When the prosecutor attempted to argue against the judge's decision by saying the technicality wasn't applicable Attorney Ford used an example of other instances where things were not explicitly defined regarding similar circumstances and shut down the prosecutor's argument. The prosecutor was so upset that he told the judge he would be appealing the decision. Attorney Ford strategically handled the situation to ensure the judge would be patient with us and stay open minded which helped set the stage for the hearings that followed. Unfortunately, my daughter's mother almost immediately after the plea was set aside for jury trial, attempted to get my bond revoked by making allegations that I violated the no contact order. This was taken by Attorney Ford as an opportunity to further set the stage for the way the facts would be perceived by the judge. During the bond violation review hearing Attorney Ford utilized the presence of my support and expert witnesses to show the prosecution and judge that we were more than ready for trial. By the end of that hearing the judge not only chose not to revoke my bond, he was speaking to me in a way that conveyed he was starting to see the bigger picture. With the jury trial only a few weeks away Attorney Ford decided it would be best put in a motion for a final pre-jury trial. The purpose of the final pre-jury trial hearing was to sort out what evidence would be presented for my defense (these hearings don't typically require the victim be present). The day of the final pre-jury trial the prosecutor notified us that the victim wouldn't be showing up and because of it the trial was cancelled. It was apparent that due to Attorney Ford's calculated timing on the submission of the evidence and overwhelming zealousness the prosecution realized they did not stand a chance at winning the jury trial. I strongly believe the prosecutor discouraged my daughter's mother from showing up to the final pre-jury trial hearing so the case could be dismissed due to the fact that a dismissal is better for them than a loss. Attorney Ford cared to listen to issues I have that cannot be resolved in court and made suggestions on ways I could help them from outside of a legal standpoint. Because my case was mainly centered around a custody battle over my 6 year old daughter attorney Ford's experience as a juvenile defender gave her insight into what I was dealing with on a deeper more personal level. Attorney Ford would contact me at different random times through out the 5 month span of my case with different thoughts and ideas showing me that she literally takes her work home with her. If you have the need for someone who fights for her client and know your situation requires an effective yet delicate touch, Attorney Deborah G. Ford is the way to go.
