I was in the market to buy a house and because 2021 was a buyer's market, many were at the mercy of the sellers and agent. I was all set to purchase a home (at an inflated price of course ) when I noticed that my ageant slipped in a substantial undisclosed fee on my final loan estimate. I discovered the fee and asked that it be removed. The ageant refused so I backed out of the deal. I subsequently contacted Attorney Peter J Mancini and for a very small incremental fee, he gave me some excellent advise as to how I could possibly recover my EMD. He patiently listened as I explained all of the details. He then took a substantial amount of time to explain all of the PRO'S and CON'S of my case and he did this in a very kind and empathetic way. He was also extremely articulate so I left the conversation with no doubt as to how to proceed. Needless to say, I followed his advise, took the case to small claims court and won the case. Thank you so much Peter J Mancini!!

My family was in need of a tax attorney to help us in regards to foreign account disclosure. After coming off a terrible experience with an attorney who was non-transparent and compensated based on the rather arbitrary process of hourly billing - we decided we needed to find a tax attorney who prioritized transparency in billing in addition to competency, and we found that with Peter Mancini and PureTax Resolution. To sum our experience up in one word - Compassion! In the most trying of circumstances, we found Peter to be not only comforting in his guidance and direction, but knowledgeable, intelligent, factual and thoroughly efficient. Unlike our prior experience, we never felt rushed and Peter always took the time to explain things in a way that we could understand. He would listen and learn about all the details of our rather complex tax problem. HIs whole demeanor was slow and steady assuring us that we were in good hands. From an execution standpoint, it was clear Peter was up-to-date on the ever changing legal landscape. He was able to identify a change in law that occurred during our time working together, that would lead to us altering our strategy and result in SIGNIFICANT tax savings to us, simply because Peter was informed on the changing legal landscape. From a tactical and bottom-line financial standpoint for us, this was a very important moment and we are very grateful that he caught it. This is a man who commands his field and with a touch of elegance to boot! Thank you Peter for your guidance.

Dual citizenship can add complexity to your IRS tax obligations. IRS International tax rules change occasionally. Your best resource is an International tax attorney like Peter Mancini Esq. Peter has written a detailed letter to IRS on my behalf to waive penalties on my foreign accounts. I was not aware of an IRS International FBAR rule which in 2012 became a reporting requirement. My CPA did not practice International tax. He did not ask me probing questions about my income stream which I submitted and disclosed fully. He knew of my foreign income but did not investigate the foreign accounts rules. Peter Mancini Esq. and his accounting team brought my past incorrect tax returns into compliance with IRS International rules on Foreign accounts. I am relieved that Peter’s excellent defense on my behalf gives me peace of mind. Tuula

This entire law group has the process of estate planning, including wills, down to a science. With their experience, they had the answers to all of my questions and made the process very easy. From the office, Kat assembled my funding table and clarified how I should go about changing ownership on my various accounts to my new trust, so they can avoid probate and make my estate easier to deal with for my trustees.

I have dealt with quite a few lawyers and i have to say that the Mannor Law Firm has been the best. They tell you there plan of action and follow thru with it. They are the first attorneys I have dealt with that did what they said they would do. And would make sure you were comfortable with all the decisions that were made. Highly recommend this company! great people to work with.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Grand Blanc, Michigan?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
