Being in a business that is referral based only would seem risky to put your name on the line when referring an expert to your client. I was looking for a great attorney to refer to my client's too. In my search, I was personally recommended to Mitch when I needed legal advice. My calls were returned promptly. Mitch listened to every detail and answered all my questions. Mitch was very comforting and understanding of my situation. Mitch even called to see if there was anything else he could help me with after the fact. Once I personally experienced his services it was obvious that he would be the lawyer that I would highly recommend to my client's should they need legal adivce. My client's have been using Mitch's services for over 5 years now and the only calls I get is the calls of, "Thank You for referring Mitchell Foster to us."

I was referred to Mr. Anderson by the Bar Association & from the beginning Mr. Anderson listened!! During these tumultuous days for my family he was patient, knowledgeable, resourceful, understanding, legal representation with Mr. Anderson has made us feel with his representation our best interest will be of utmost importance & justice will prevail. As a legal advisor he explains everything. Our family recommends Mr. Anderson highly, & I have to note we had other legal counsel whom just wanted to do all the talking & no listening needless to say the other attorney was dismissed. Your family will be represented properly & your questions will be answered, providing relief in stressful times. The Galarneau family..

I recently worked with Spencer on a legal matter involving a DNR ticketing case. As someone who holds professional licenses in multiple states, this could have had serious consequences and financial implications for my licensing. Spencer was able to help spare me from the potential of having to jumpthrough hoops for all of my licenses, not to mention the stress associated with that. From our first conversation, he was prompt, professional, well-spoken, and incredibly kind. He took the time to explain every step of the process, answered all my questions thoroughly, and made me feel at ease during a very stressful time. His expertise and dedication were evident throughout, and I truly believe his hard work made all the difference in the outcome. I cannot recommend Spencer Bondy highly enough. If you’re in need of legal representation, his knowledge, professionalism, and dedication to achieving the best possible outcome are unmatched.

"Justice was served Today" This was the first text that Spencer sent me after he helped win a Jury Trial against my ex-wife in a wrongful allegation, DV charge in Livingston County. I chose Spencer because he came highly recommended from a friend, whom he had also helped in a previous matter. He had plenty of positive reviews (which are all true), and he's young, hungry, ambitious and has a track record of winning. Spencer was amazing to work with from the beginning. He was incredibly responsive, always taking the time to explain every step of the process and answer my countless questions. Spencer communicated through email, text and calls, and responded almost immediately, ensuring that I never felt alone or in the dark throughout the entire ordeal. His expertise and confidence were evident in every interaction, which gave me a great deal of reassurance during a very stressful time. One of the things that impressed me most about Spencer was his thorough preparation. He meticulously reviewed all the details of my case, leaving no stone unturned. His attention to detail and ability to build a strong defense were crucial in winning the Jury trial. Spencer's courtroom presence was also commendable; he presented my case with clarity, professionalism, and an undeniable conviction that clearly resonated with the jury. Beyond his professional skills, Spencer demonstrated genuine compassion and understanding of the emotional toll such a case can take. He provided not just legal support, but also moral support, which made a significant difference in navigating this difficult period. Spencer is like the real-life "Lincoln Lawyer" of Michigan. He combines legal prowess with a relentless drive to achieve justice, making him an exceptional attorney who delivers top-notch service and results. I wholeheartedly recommend Spencer to anyone in need of a dedicated and highly skilled attorney. His hard work and dedication were instrumental in achieving a just outcome in my case. Thank you, Spencer, for your outstanding work and for helping me move forward with my life.

I had the pleasure of working with Spencer Bondy as my criminal defense attorney, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the experience and outcome. Spencer is not only highly skilled and knowledgeable in the field of criminal law, but he also brings a remarkable level of care and empathy to his practice. From our first meeting, he made me feel heard and understood, addressing all my concerns with patience and genuine compassion. Spencer's dedication to my case was evident throughout the entire process. He meticulously reviewed all the details, developed a robust defense strategy, and kept me informed every step of the way. His confidence and expertise were reassuring, especially during such a stressful time. The most remarkable aspect of Spencer's service was the outcome he achieved – a dismissal of my case. This result speaks volumes about his capability as a defense attorney and his commitment to his clients. If you are looking for a lawyer who will not only fight tirelessly for your rights but also provide the support you need, I highly recommend Spencer & Bondy law.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Milford, Michigan?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
