I made an appointment for a meet and greet with Gary and spent about 1 hour with him. At the beginning of the meeting he told me he charges $300/Hr to do tax returns. At the end of the meet and greet he told me the charge for our one hour conversation was $300. I could understand a lawyer charging $300 for actual case work or to do someone's taxes, but $300 for a meet and greet as I decided if this lawyer would be a good fit for me or not? I paid his fee but afterward I called Gary's office and asked to speak with him about the charge. Gary emailed me back and said that he disagreed that it was wrong to charge me but said he would consider my request for a refund. Then the responses stopped. I emailed him 2 more times but he ignored me both times. I then reversed the charge on my credit card but Gary convinced the credit card company he was in the right so the charge was reinstated. In my opinion this type of business practice is unethical. Gary never told me there would be a charge for the meet and greet and then claimed in an email that he did tell me, which is completely untrue. And I have since spoken with 2 other lawyers and neither one charged me a dime let alone $300. All I have to say is be careful who you deal with in life and I would never trust this man.

Mr. Dettloff has done my taxes, planned my estate and advised me on numerous subjects. His depth and breadth of knowledge is exceeded only by his honesty and integrity. He has saved me tens of thousands over the years but more importantly knowing that he is available for wise counsel is a huge asset to my business and my personal affairs.

Gary was patient on the phone with me answering many questions that I had, he also called be back when I asked him for some more information. I have not met him in person ...
