Bob and his team were very helpful and professional in helping us with our car accident claim. I would recommend him highly if you find yourself in need an attorney's expertise in gaining an injury recovery settlement due to an accident that was not your fault.

We met with Robert shortly after our automobile accident . He was very understanding to us. We had no idea what to except. He walked us though everything, and them some. He and his staff was very respectful. They truly was concerned about our health first and upmost. I cannot thank them enough for what he did for myself and my family.

Going to an attorney is emontional expererience. When we made our appoinment the most inportant thing to us was the attorney reputation. That's why we made the right decision. He listened to our concerns and weighed the facts and came up with a responable, ethical conclusion. We would reccommend Attorney Ehrenberg to any one looking for a legal resolve to there issue.

Mr. Ehrenberg was thorough, personable, and a clear communicator. He gave me a clear understanding of what I might be able to expect in my situation. He also is well-respected among his peers and communicated with another well-respected colleague on my behalf regarding my situation. I would recommend his services without reservation.

Attorney Ehrenberg took over my case when the other attorney retired. He made sure that he reviewed everything in the file, and then reviewed it again with me. He was very good about answering phone calls and emails in a timely manner, and always made sure I understood where things stood and what needed to happen next. He was very honest about his feelings on how the case was proceeding, and always encouraged me to make my own decision on how to proceed next. When he knew I was struggling with a decision, he gave me reasons for and against and encouraged me to do what was best for me. Even though he took over my case from another attorney, I trusted him completely to get me all the way through it. I would definitely recommend Attorney Ehrenberg to others!

The only person who answered my question and in the most concise and expeditious way! I'd really appreciate Mr. Puckett getting back to me with his advice and with the guidance that I've received from him without selling my kidney )) Thank you! At least I know what I can request from my very inefficient attorney.

Bob was kind enough to give me a massive amount of information within a 30 minute free phone call. I’ve talked to several attorneys and no one comes close to Bob’s knowledge and expertise. If you want the best lawyer to represent you and walk you through rough waters Bob is the man.

I am very satisfied with the legal help provided by Mr. Puckett. I hired him to help with my divorce when things had started to become messy. He is very knowledgeable and experienced, has a very good sense of how situations are going to play out, and also keeps the human side of things in mind. I came to the initial consultation terrified. I was being falsely accused of abuse, neglect, and domestic violence. I had no idea how any of this worked. As far as I knew, I was going to end up destitute and broken after the divorce. After explaining my situation to Mr. Puckett, he gave me what he thought a likely outcome would be. And he was right. Instead of the nightmare that I thought would play out, I ended up with a fair and equitable settlement with my ex wife. I would recommend Mr. Puckett in a heart beat!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Saint Joseph, Michigan?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
