I was raided and charged with a felony for drug and gun possession. I had originally hired a different attorney who I thought wasn't doing a good enough job. I was facing a minimum maximum of 3 years and the prosecution wasn't giving any deals or reducing my time for a plea. I was afraid and desperate!! A family member referred me to Clayton Tyler. The trial that was set up through my old attorney was coming up quickly, Mr. Clayton had the trial postponed and started to work on my case immediately. During our meetings, it was evident that he was very knowledgeable about drug and gun laws. It was also evident that he was well known in the county and state were I was charged. I was impressed by the amount of time that Mr. Clayton spent with me. During our many meeting he would calm my fears by letting me know that he is good at what he does and not to worry. During my different appearances in court Mr. Clayton was always there early to go over our plans so that I was calm and well prepared. I was still very afraid because I was facing 3 years in prison. It turned out that I was found not guilty on the part of the case that would have gotten me those three years in prison and I received a stay of adjudication on the other part of the case. So I ended up with NO jail time and as long as I stay out of trouble I will not have it on my record in a few years. I was so blessed to have Mr. Clayton as my attorney, I was facing a very tough prosecutor but he handled my situation very well. I look to Mr. Clayton as a mentor and even keep in touch with him periodically. I would definitely use Clayton Tyler again if necessary.

Clayton Tyler has been my lawyer for over 10 years. I've gotten into a lot of trouble over the years and Clayton has been there for me every time. He definitely knows what he's doing. He knows almost all the prosecutors and the judges (these relationships have been used to my advantage more than once) I've seen him have private talks with the judges in there chambers many times. Clayton will give it to you strait up, he won't try and sugar coat your situation, he will keep it real with you. Other reviewers have said that after he gets your money he's hard to get a hold of, that IS NOT TRUE. He's not gonna call you every day to sooth your nerves, because he's busy working on your behalf, and negotiating with your prosecutor and your judge. I was never not able to get a hold of him. If he was with a client or in court, Nancy (who is a rockstar) would take a message and make sure he got back to me. Communication aside, the most important thing is outcome. I've had two separate felon in possession of firearm charges, one of them was for an assault rifle. On both of these cases Clayton got me downward departures. That means instead of the 5 year mandatory minimum for each charge, I was only sentenced to a year, meaning I only had to serve 8 months. You can't beat that! Downward departures are hard to get, let alone twice! I've also been charged with a drug felony for selling 1000 pills to a DEA informant. Once we got to court, Clayton got me a deal where I only had to serve two weekends. Two Weekends!!! That was it!! Doing this review is reminding me just how awesome and how much of a Pro, Clayton really is. You'd be a fool to hire anyone else. He's stretched out court dates, and gotten continuances almost as many times as I've wanted. Even when I've messed things up by dropping dirty UA's and not following conditions of release(which I wouldn't reccomend), he was STILL able to secure favorable outcomes for me. I've used Clayton for small things like child support and DWI, as well as more serious things like drug charges and gun charges, etc. And every time he has met and exceeded my expectations. I've seen Clayton in court, get up in front of the judge and deliver an Oscar winning performance on my behalf. He does not like to lose, nor does he like his clients to do any jail time. I remember a time where I was sentenced to like 20 or 30 days in jail, an outcome I was pleased with, but Clayton was mad because I had to do any time at all. He genuinely cares about his clients. There's so many other little, and nuanced things that Clayton does which makes him the best. All I can say is if you want the best possible legal representation you can get, without question go with F. Clayton Tyler

I was arrested early 2018 for a 5th degree drug violation and DUI in Hennepin county. The day I was released I vigorously began searching for an attorney, I made dozens of phone calls before with different attorneys before scheduling a consultation with Clayton Tyler. The Genuine honesty and impeccable knowledge he had to offer made him and ideal attorney for me and I am absolutely humbled by that. Clayton was able to get diversions for both of my charges meaning I didn't have to do anymore jail time and for this I am also greatful. I really appreciate the outstanding service and positive outcome from a very scary time in my life.

If you're looking for a lawyer that doesnt talk the talk, be there when you need, honestly reassure you that things will work out, and take the time to really get to know you.......look elsewhere. I'll keep this short and to the points. This all in hindsight and reflecting through my ordeal. - Facing felony charges so naturally scared and looking for guidance. - Initial meet - right away he boasted about beating 2 federal cases w/in 6mths. He also called his "contacts" and left multiple messages, for them to get back to him asap. Asked who my judge was. Told him who it was...got the "Oh really?!? Judge is good friend of mine. Known for years now". - Was sold the feeling that this lawyer will really listen to my story and do all he can for me. - NOPE! In the 2 yrs that my case lasted and +15k paid to him he met with me only 2 other times. Numerous attempts to meet with him but always told by secretary "Clayton is busy meeting other clients" or "He's in court". - prosecuters offered plea deal. He says don't take deal. Assured me he can get better deal but I'll have to take straight guilty plea. - At sentencing...not a single word out of his mouth asking for leniency or attempt to ask. - if there was any behind the scenes negotiations I was never told about them. - judge hands down my sentence. He's shocked that I didn't get the 8+ yrs. How was I able to get such a short sentence?!?! - during those 2 yrs I did what I had to do (rehab, court ordered classes, community volunteering, etc), meet w/ prosecuters on my own with no guidance from my "lawyer". Maybe if he'd taken time to meet more he would've seen who i am. Its obvious the judge saw! This guy just wants your money.

F Clayton Tyler was amazing! I had 3 charges against me. felony flee, disorderly, and blocking traffic. The police were trying to charge me with the worst one, felony flee. F Clayton Tyler had the judge dismiss all charges. Not only did he save me from having a felony on my record. He was always available to talk to me when I needed to discuss my case. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs a extremely great defense lawyer.

I retained Ms. F Clayton back in 2005 for a Drug & Gun charge. For I was young and reckless back then. Anyways Mr.Taylor talk to me via a phone call then a face to face while I was still incarcerated in a county jail, with up most certainty that he could beat my case and or get me off the hook with less than minimal criminal damages. I retained Mr. Taylor for a pretty nice fee.. Upon our first consultation he recommended me, "More so Advised me" to tell a PSI a specific story. 'Come to find out it was the worst thing I could of done for myself, seeing as he pretty much had me admit guilt before I even seen a court room' & I only found this out after I had fired Mr. Taylor and retained someone else. I'll never forget how friendly he was and his appearance to be genuinely concerned and caring. He new everyone in the jail by first name in the jail and seemed to be a big dog in the legal circle.. He took my retainers fee and I was never able to get in contact with him again. He would show up right before court proceedings and his whole demeanor about how simple my case was change. It now wad a high profile case, "he didn't know how serious it was, because he didn't have the "WHOLE" file prior to speaking with me". Of course he was going to require more money.. I got rite of him and hired a lawyer friend of the family. Now I must admit, when I was able to get in front of Mr. F Clayton again and explained my dissatisfaction. He did return half my retainers fee on the condition that I be billed directly to my new lawyer I had hired. All in all I would never step in a court room with him as my legal defense.

Hired Mr. Tyler to represent me for a felony drug possession charge, my first offense. Me. Tyler was very persuasive before I hired him. He contacted me several times to tell me strategies for fighting the charge as I wanted to take it to trial. He said there several issues that we could fight. He'd tell me of a "5 prong strategy" we could use. He called me while he was on vacation outside the country to persuade me. I thought he was hungry and aggressive and would show that same level of enthusiasm during my case. I chose him out of the 4 attorneys I interviewed. After Mr. Tyler was hired, he was impossible to contact. I had no idea what to expect and I Found it very difficult to reach him. I walked into every hearing completely in the dark, with no idea what was going to happen. It was really frustrating. I was able to talk to a woman in his office one day and voiced my frustration and she said "Clayton has done this for so long that he forgets that his clients don't do this everyday". That makes sense, but I'd still appreciate if he'd give me a heads up on what to expect. He told me we could do a 5 minute session before each court date, but that still left me hanging in between. I was faced with a personal tragedy during this time and my circumstances changed. I needed to know an estimated cost of expert witnesses, etc. as far as advance as possible. He said he had the witnesses lined up. He told the judge and prosecutor he had the witnesses when he requested more time to get the case together. I kept calling him, no response. I still fully expected we were taking this to trial, but I was wrong. I arrived to court not knowing what to expect, but I thought it had something to do with the witnesses. Instead, Mr. Tyler was 2 hours late to court. He had called the prosecutor and she wasn't happy with the delay. I checked in and waited, when he arrived, we had a couple minute conference then started. That's when I found out there were no witnesses and I was expected to decide, on the spot, if I'd take a plea. I was floored. As far as I knew when I got there that day, I had a fighting chance at trial. Then I was expected to decide immediately whether I would take the plea and if I didn't, decide that second, the prosecutor was going to throw the book at me. I hadn't even considered a plea because I thought we were taking it to trial. The judge gave us a couple minutes to talk in private and I was beyond irritated. I asked him why he didn't tell me about the lack of witnesses earlier and his response was "look, you're guilty, I don't know what you expect me to do about it". Whoa. What happened to his 5 prong approach? I ended up making a pleaing out. I felt like I went in blind and was completely unprepared for what was happening. I still don't trust his actions that day and don't feel I was represented adequately. As the final insult, I was talking to him while walking in the courthouse-I didn't know where to go to start my after court requirements. Mid-sentence his phone rang, he shushed me, then said "this is an important client, I have to take this" and walked away from me. That was the last time we talked. I had a different lawyer look into my case. First thing he noticed was that my paperwork had listed the wrong crime. Whoa. Luckily, it's something that can be changed, but where was my lawyer to catch that???
