Cory Whalen was recommended to Cathy (my sister-in-law) and me to discuss macro and micro issues in personal injury law. We lost my beloved brother (husband of Cathy) in Oct 2022, following two elective back surgeries whose goal was to help him move with less pain. Instead, he died within an hour of the second surgery because of pulmonary emboli, a known risk of surgeries more than three hours long. Cathy and I tried for over a year to find an attorney with no success. I live in MN; Cathy lives in MT. We needed to find an attorney in CO and our connections weren't getting us there. 90 minutes with Cory helped us understand medical malpractice, wrongful death, factors medmal firms consider when reviewing a case. He answered a lot of questions and recommended how we could identify medmal attorneys in CO, EMing us a web link. The next day we contacted the first 10 attorneys and the top listed attorney called us from his vacation in Mexico. It was a Sunday and we had our first Zoom meeting on Tuesday morning. This would not have happened without Cory's coaching. He is honest, direct, knowledgeable, and kind. My family used Cory Whalen from SiebenCary to represent us in a wrongful death suit following a tragic accident involving my daughter. Cory was very sensitive to our emotional loss and my son-in-law's emotional and financial loss. The circumstances of the accident were not black and white. My daughter, unfortunately, hased her dog out into a semi-dark road - by no means an open-and-shut case. Cory got my family a fair settlement and abided by our wish not to take it to court. It was my decision that I didn't want to put myself and my family through reliving that awful day that forever changed our lives. Cory could have had a potentially bigger paycheck with a court appearance (or possibly not) and he simply asked me what we wanted to do without pressure either way. State Farm was particularly difficult to deal with and he stood by his offer to collect the "gimme" death benefits as part a of their service and only charged us for the wrongful death part of the settlement. He stuck by his word even when it became very difficult and expensive for them to collect what should have been an automatic payment if State Farm was truly the "Good Neighbor" that they claim to be. I would highly recommend Cory if you're looking for a personal injury lawyer.
