Due to an arrest during a civil action I was facing some severe consequences. Tim Phillips represented me and defended my case with tenacity and professionalism from the outset. Equally important, he stayed in constant communication with me never leaving me to wonder where I was in the legal process and ultimately got the case deferred with no permanent mark on my record. I couldn't have hoped for a better outcome!

Tim defended me in an environmental justice case in 2021: I was the first to go to trial for a large action against Line 3. This was my first run-in with the law and I had no idea what to expect from the court system, or from a lawyer. Due to the imminence of graduate school starting, my case was expedited, and I became the first of over 200 activists to go to trial. The case moved much faster than we had anticipated. Tim helped me rally other activists to review discovery from the court, and he did the same with a team of lawyers. By the time the court came, we were more than ready, although it only been a couple of weeks to get everything together. I can only imagine the number of hours he spent, and I know that he was worth much more than we paid him. In court, I knew that my future was in his hands, but I also knew that it was safe. He did an exemplary job of defending me; my husband would later describe the courtroom as being like a thrilling sports game where the other team was repeatedly struck down and the ball was clearly in our court the entire time. We achieved a quick acquittal, which was seen as a victory by the movement. Tim made a big difference in my life, and my gratitude to him is on dying. For his dedication, compassion, and skill, he is worth his weight in gold.
