Jessica Rugani stepped in at the 11th hour to cover and represent my teenage son’s case that had been ongoing for 2 years. She did a fantastic job getting to know us very quickly and connected with my son at a very personal level when it mattered the most. Nobody in the courtroom would have imagined we’d known her for such a short time. Professional is how she could easily be described but passionate above all and personable are what stand out to us the most!

Child support child support child support. Is all I heard from Breanne. She was going to represent me in a custody case in a situation where the mother of my child is living in a shelter and is dealing with undiagnosed mental issues. And I get it The clients she represent she gets them child support it's just how the system goes but I can't help but feel a little sold out granted she's talking child support and we haven't even made it to court. I told her to dismiss the whole thing and send me my money back I'm thinking I'll get about 4500 back of my $5,000 I got 3100 back these people charge $30 a phone call and $30 a email. All she did was type up a petition and I had a initial consultation. Greedy shiesty law firm. I told her a week prior I wanted out a week later she emailed me asking was I sure I messaged back Yes $30 each way unbelievable

I cannot express how amazing it was to work with Groshek Law. Jessica was the lead attorney on my case. She was unparalleled in her preparation, knowledge, and insight. She took the time to really understand everything and was there any time I had a question or concern. She talked me through everything that was happening and all of the issues in a way that I could understand it. She gave me incredible confidence. I really felt like she cared about my case on a personal level. To say she went the extra mile for me would be a huge understatement. I will forever be grateful to her and to the entire team for their hard work. I had different representation for the first year of my case, and Jessica got it completely dismissed within a matter of months. There is absolutely no chance I would have gotten this result with the other firm. I got my life back, thanks to them. I cannot recommend them highly enough. If you’re in a tough spot, let me assure you, you absolutely want the team at Groshek on your side.

Jessica and her team will diligently advocate for you, just as they did for me and my family. Jessica, your expertise and dedication are truly unparalleled. I am immensely grateful for all the assistance and relentless effort you put into securing a complete dismissal for my family. With this resolved, I can now fully focus on providing for my children. My heartfelt thanks go out to you.

Highly recommend! Brittney was very helpful with getting my bankruptcy filed. Answered every question I had and also made sure I was comfortable with every step of the process. Price also was great, give her a call and you will leave very impressed and comfortable with the whole process since it is a difficult situation for everyone filing.

Chris Johnson has represented me on two occasions. Several years ago my father had a stroke and I became his primary caregiver. I was teaching middle school at the time and spending every spare minute as with my father. This situation began to take a deleterious toll on my health as anxiety and sleeplessness set in. I went to my physician for help and they prescribed medications that created opioid addiction. It was a brutal situation and, long story short, I ended up with DUI charge. Chris guided me through the prosecution system and saw my case to a successful conclusion. My second case involved my dog Molly being unjustly accused and Chris saw this to a successful outcome as well. I am glad I he has had my back as going up against the justice system alone would be a major problem!

My attorney experience has been top notch, everything form the planning, the gathering of information. Carly was open and clear, she was real about what I could expect during the divorce process. The staff was kind and friendly, communications were done in a good time. I am so grateful for the hard work, professionalism; from all the staff.

I hired Carly to help me through my divorce. She is a consummate professional and I appreciated her pragmatic approach. A strong and capable negotiator, she tried to find the best solution rather than unnecessary litigation. All of my questions were answered and explained in a way to make sure I understood the reasoning. The process is arduous, but I always felt listened to and it was reassuring to have a team that I felt was always in my corner. I would definitely recommend Carly to any friend who was in similar circumstances.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Monticello, Minnesota?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
