Jay Adkins of Godwin Dold far exceeded my expectations as a defense attorney in my case of driving after cancellation inimical to public safety. My privilege to drive was cancelled due to a past DUI offense and I was prohibited from driving until I complied with reinstatement requirements and got interlock installed in my vehicle. While waiting for the state to verify my documents, I was pulled over driving without the interlock device in my car, without a valid driver's license, and was charged with driving after cancellation; a gross misdemeanor offense punishable by a maximum penalty of 1 year in jail and/or a $3000 fine. Jay was extremely thorough in reviewing all of the reports and discussing the case fully with me. He explained how crucial it was for me to get my license reinstated and get interlock installed in my vehicle. Because I did not have any defense for challenging the offenses, these proactive measures helped resolve my case effectively. Without Jay's guidance, I certainly would have served time in jail, as well as had my license revoked...perhaps indefinitely. Jay was able to negotiate a deal with the prosecutor which allowed me to keep my recently reinstated license. I was given a Stay of Adjudication for two years, which eliminates any criminal charge off my record so long as I do not commit any similar offense. Jay secured no jail time and a very reasonable fine, all without me having to appear in court. With Jay's instruction and guidance, I was able to achieve the mandatory steps in order for him to sculpt a resolution to satisfy the concerns of the prosecution and judge while allowing me to maintain my driver's license and serve no jail time. I am truly thankful and grateful for Jay and highly recommend him to anyone looking for help in any case similar to mine. Without his help, the length of my revocation would certainly be longer, if not indefinite, and I would most likely be sitting in jail.
