Kerry Anne had a clear and definite plan during a brief consult two months ago. You can hear on the phone that has a logical train of thought and uses clear English and projects her voice well. This involved family court OFP. I think she would work very fast and determined with respect to her work and practice in family law. Although, she was hesitant when I mentioned include extra assistance in the form of a private investigator (Behavioral Intelligence Agent) she did concede that she would be open to consulting at her hourly rate as an intermediary advisor outside of court. *Please shop wisely and use lawyers who are willing to work with a full team of experts.

I practiced law with Bruce a number of years ago and have maintained contact with Bruce because of, among other reasons, his knowledge, experience and legal counsel regarding the practice of law, especially the practice of real estate law. Bruce is one of the most effective, efficient and practical attorneys that I know, and, after 40 years of practicing law, I know plenty of attorneys.

Lake Community Bank (LCB) is a local financial institution that has served the Mineapolis and St. Paul market dating back to 1905. We specialize in all types of lending with a particular emphasis in commercial real estate and construction/land development lending. I currently serve as the bank's President & CEO but have served in other capacities with LCB over my 18 years, including lending officer and the chief credit officer. The bank's professional relationsip with Bruce extends well beyond the 18 years that I have known him. Bruce has represented us on countless transactions across a broad spectrum of industries. He has also represented us on several workout relationships. He is a seasoned and highly skilled attorney that I would recommend without hesitation. He has the unique ability to take complicated transactions / issues and make them very understandable. Not only does he have a great legal mind but he has excellent business sense which is why our bank values him so highly. Our bank looks forward to continuing our professional relationship for years to come.

Mr. Boeder has been my trusted advisor since 1990. He is a highly principaled counselor who gives carefully considered advice. His work has always been logical, rational, ethical and cost effective. Bruce has an open, engaging manner that makes him easy to trust. That trust will not be misplaced should you choose to engage him. His area of expertise is real estate law. I have had him handle several real estate transactions. I have also had Mr. Boeder give me advice on personal and business matters and have had him refer me to other legal specialists, all of whom have the same moral compass as Mr. Boeder. I wholeheartedly recommend Mr. Bruce Boeder.

Kyle represented me in my high-conflict child custody case. From the first time I met with him I instantly felt like he understood my unique situation and genuinely cared about the wellbeing and stability of my children. I was very pleased with his prompt response to my needs and was very diligent and hardworking throughout. Due to the high conflict, contentiousness of my case, we ended up going to trial. Kyle was incredibly prepared, very smart, and cost efficient. He truly cares about his clients and fights for what is important to them. I would highly recommend Kyle to anyone looking for an aggressive attorney in the courtroom but also compassionate and dedicated to pursuing the best outcome possible.

When I was served with divorce papers, I needed to find a lawyer who could not only protect me legally, but also help me make decisions that would preserve my young daughter's happiness as much as possible. A trusted coworker referred me to Kyle, and I was relieved to find that he had much knowledge and professional experience in handling cases similar to mine. Kyle demonstrated a sincere interest in helping me with my case. He explained the pros and cons of various ideas I had, and answered my questions completely in terms that I could understand. He embraced and encouraged a mediation process, led me to an incredible mediator. He was there every step of the way during a process that would have been daunting without him. I felt protected, relieved and prepared because of the work and effort Kyle put towards the drafting and documentation before the mediation and after the mediation took place. Kyle conducted himself in a professional, courteous, and intelligent manner in and out of the courtroom. During the court proceeding he articulated points and articles with excellent command, and demonstrated a thorough understanding of procedure and protocol. The outcome was excellent for both parties, and in turn, ensured the best possible outcome for my daughter's happiness and future. I have come to trust Kyle explicitly, and I highly recommend him to anyone needing sound legal advice and representation.

I really don't think I could have picked a better lawyer to help me with my child custody case. Kyle was just amazing. His knowledge of child custody cases and procedures is unmatched in my opinion. He was able to put all of my concerns to rest and again, his expertise in child custody cases made me feel so confident in how we addressed my case which also made for no surprises throughout the process. He was always very response and available almost anytime when things came up and was very easy to get a hold of, promptly returning calls and emails. If it wasn't for Kyle I wouldn't be enjoying and getting the time I have with my 10 year old son. I cannot thank Kyle enough for all he has done for my family!! I very highly recommend Kyle!!

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Wayzata, Minnesota?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
