Retained for $250 to settle a civil case. They had in the ballpark of 3 months to come up with a settlement, but put it off until the last weeks before the court date. The procrastination resulted in practically no time to communicate back and forth with the other party’s attorney, resulting in a “settlement”, if you can call it that. I could have done an equal or better job representing myself, but I thought I was hiring a professional. Days before the case, I get a call from the office, telling me we can take this settlement, or fight it in court (because we were out of time). The catch is, if we want them to actually do anything at all, it’ll be somewhere around $2000. So basically, they procrastinate, knowing they already have our money. They put it off long enough to try and milk another $2000 from us because now we’d have to “fight it” not settle. Now we don’t have a settlement, like we paid for, but instead have a judgement against us. That’s the whole reason we paid to settle. We didn’t want a judgement. It is what it is… we got ripped off. What makes me the most upset is, they didn’t even follow up to let us know about the judgement, or what the judgement said about the payment arrangement/schedule. I called to ask about that, and they stated they already did their job, and weren’t required to send us the information on the judgement. They began to rattle off hours they could bill us $200 an hour for, even though we paid for services that never were satisfactorily fulfilled in the first place. Naturally, this was disappointing. I confronted them about their poor service and communication, and requested the law office make it right. The “office manager” hung up on me… twice. Two different people claimed to be the office manager during these calls, so I think it’s safe say this office is unorganized, to say the least. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND (unless you are taking someone to court and they are looking for a “good lawyer” to represent against you. In that case, it’s a perfect fit!)

$60 an hour consultations and a rude person answering the phones. Wouldn't recommend.

Blake is an exceptional attorney. Did not rush my consultation made me feel confident by the time I left. Easy going guy to talk with about your legal issues. Comes off as confident straightforward. His legal fees are very reasonable compared to other attorneys in the Barry County area. Can be difficult to reach at times but that should be expected with any attorney that is getting hired. Office staff very kind. Spoke with the paralegal she is also very knowledgeable. I would recommend Blake to any of my close friends I would also rehire him for future issues if need be.
