Don't waste your time. A Ryan reviewed my case, said he would discuss it Monday with the other attorneys to figure out what to do. I was told I would receive a call or packet in the mail Monday or Tuesday for my court date Thursday. Wednesday came around and I've heard nothing. So I called them and I find out they didn't take my case and Ryan was late mailing me my packet because he was busy... Now I have no idea what to do for court tomorrow and I will probably be homeless before the week is over. Thanks for nothing.

Went to Legal Aid for representation. And even though they could not take my case due to its court date, they were diligent in helping me find another non-profit firm. I ended up winning thanks to their commitment

The only reason that I gave one star is because that’s the only way that I can make this review. I have been seeking help from these people even in the different locations. I was still denied each time on top of lies that was put on my denial letter. Information that I never gave them. My words were twisted around. I am not saying don’t go to them but for me I don’t think I will be trying to do this with them anymore. I will try to do this on my own.Kansas City Lawyer’s need to get on the ball. It’s sad to see professionals getting information wrong even when I have talked with you several times about things, no excuses!

The place to go if you need a lawyer

The fact that they're representing me because of all the domestic violence Etc and my income level, is great. It's nice to know that lawyers and agencies like this exist to help women especially in domestic violence situations. However the lawyer I was assigned, is condescending half the time when I talk to her. I do not believe she understands what happens to a person who has been abused in every sense of the word, for almost 3 years, every day, by someone they were married to. The mental state of someone who has two had to endure horrific abuse especially verbal, mental, emotional, and physical, can really do a number on a person and turn their whole life upside down. People who have been through this kind of abuse understand it. I do not appreciate the way I have been spoken to half the time, like I am four years old. It's really not hard to figure out that I am not okay do to this man that I am divorcing. I know this man's every move and can predict it and am always right. So bringing this up to the lawyer I was assigned is no longer going to happen because I'm not believed and I'm treated like a 4 year old, like it's all in my head or I'm just paranoid etcetera. But low and behold things I know that are happening, stuff he's doing, stuff he has done, stuff he's planning to do Etc, always happens. The last thing I need is for the person that is supposed to be helping me get away from him and hopefully put him in jail for all the horrific abused my son and I have had to endure, is to be so condescending half the time. It really is depressing.
