After a failed attempt with another Attorney we thankfully found Martha Brown! Her assistance, knowledge, understanding and subsequent work from her entire team was outstanding! At a terribly sensitive time, with my father gravely ill and my elderly mother not being comfortable with 25+ year old legal documents prepared by an estranged family members firm, Martha navigated a course that included several in person visits, emails and one on one meetings with trust companies. At no time did my mother or I feel as if we were being rushed, coerced or "processed" as just the next client on the books. The clear thorough advice and subsequent documents produced were provided with both speed and accuracy leaving mother at age 93 feeling safe and secure. With father passing in the midst of it all, they even helped process probate and were there to answer every question. Martha has a relatability that clearly puts elderly, and the not yet elderly, at ease. She's real people. She's honest. She understands the problem and provides a clear path to resolve. She and her entire team are there to help! We are extremely grateful to all Martha has done!

Martha Brown and her team were excellent! They met with my sons & I and walked us through the "legal speak" of any and all documents. They worked the Medicaid forms for us in a timely manner, all the while giving us the care and concern us older folks needed. When we called or emailed, there was a prompt reply! Highly recommended!

I referred my best friend & her brother to Martha for advice about a family matter. She understood the intricacies of the family dynamic and the impact that an elderly parent's mental health issues have on relationships. She could answer their questions based on years of experience, and gave meaningful guidance and reassurance -- all in one sitting. After consulting with Martha, my friends got a good night's sleep for the first time in weeks.

Martha Brown represented my family for sensitive legal matters that involved having my father declared incompetent to protect him from outside predators. Martha and her staff were extremely sensitive to how delicate of a situation it was and were always professional. Martha handled my family, including my father, with the same care and respect that she handled dealing with the judge assigned to our case. It was a pleasure working with Martha and I would highly recommend her to anyone with a legal issue in the Elder Care area of the law.

Martha and her staff helped greatly when my brother in law died unexpectedly and without a will or any other legal documents. His home and investments were required to go through the probate process in Missouri. He was not organized to say the least. I had to call Martha on a Sunday afternoon. She told me the 2 things I could and should do immediately. Throughout the next year and a half, Martha and her staff dealt with banks, mortgage and investment companies. In addition to my brother in law not being organized, some of the bank and mortgage companies weren't either. Martha filed all papers necessary with the court and let us know when court approved. Her advice led to an extra 100k in the estate settlement. If you are not aware, attorneys are not paid until the probate process is complete and settlement is approved by the court. I did not experience any problems with Martha Brown and her associates over the 18 months. I believe they more than earned their fee over this period of time. Since then I have called on Martha for various legal needs and will continue to do so.

Martha is very competent and more importantly very compassionate. She does everything that is in the best interest for the client. I have seen her go out of her way treating our joint clients with nothing but utmost respect for everyone involved.

Ms. Brown has been an asset in both my personal and professional life. During the death of my father, she came to his ICU room and was instrumental in providing support and guidance in completing his last wishes. She goes the extra mile. She is also a huge advocate for underserved populations. Ms. Brown has purposefully developed an expertise in guiding families of individuals with mental health issues, aging families, and families of people with developmental disabilities, through sometimes confusing systems. I highly recommend her for anyone who is seeking an attorney who is both genuinely compassionate and presents the highest level of expertise in the legal field. She is a rare find.

Martha Brown prepared wills, power of attorney and deed paperwork for my family and we were very satisfied with her work. She was reasonably priced, made the process very easy for us, and was friendly, open and honest with us throughout. Couldn't ask for more!

I was disappointed with their guidance, communication, and knowledge of practices of the Court. They failed to set realistic client expectations and provide timely responses regarding typical outcomes and next steps when interacting with the Court. When the Court would not allow a Guardianship with existing POA that they had recommended she feigned indignation, and made spurious comments regarding discontinuing her practice in St Louis County Probate court. Specifically they failed to foresee and communicate implications to client in advance of: • Court not allowing Guardianship with existing POA. ( Court terminated POA and required Conservatorship be established. We learned from the Court appointed attorney for the Ward that the Court almost never allows Guardianship without Conservatorship. This caused a 3 month delay in the Real Estate Auction, required obtaining a Surety Bond, and led to a fivefold increase in fees paid to their office over what was originally expected for Guardianship only.) • Court requiring Appraisal before Real Estate could be auctioned. (Resulting in needing the appraisal within 24 hours at additional costs) • Additional Surety Bond required after sale of Real Estate. (additional costs.) • Option to pursue direct disbursement to heirs by Conservator. (Instead of their office suggesting this quicker more cost effective approach, we had to bring it up to them after a third party recommended it.) All in all they may be strong at drawing up Trusts agreements and the many aspects of Estate planning, but we found them weak at interacting with the Court and communicating with the client. I would not recommend this firm.
