My ex husband had fought paying child support for fifteen years and I had been to different attorneys in the past that drug out each modification case which in turn cost me thousands of dollars. Each modification my ex husband had filed, I had "won" in the end but both of us were out so much money plus my daughter went through so much emotional damage because of it that NO ONE actually won. My daughter was 17 and again my ex filed another modification and I had no money left and was trying to represent myself and trying to wade through the forms to save money so I could actually do what I needed to do....take care of my children. I met Joel during a class I was taking at a local college and he was the adjunct professor. I spoke to him about my case and he said he could help. He worked with my ex husbands attorney and came to a resolution quickly which put a stop to any additional modifications and most importantly, gave my daughter peace which she had never had before. Joel was always able to be reached to talk, would fill out the documents right when I was in the office and let me do things that I could do to save me money. He explained the pros and cons of each thing we did so I was informed of what would be the outcome. He kept communication to the other attorney to a minimum so it kept the rate down. I respect Joel because he did not do the drama but had concern for others. He is also a Christian, does not flaunt that but it truly shows in his actions not his words. That speaks volumes to me.

He never padded the bill for extra hours or silly motions that he knew would go nowhere, he is a stand up guy that we completely trust and will always be our attorney from here on out. Joel was reccomended to me by another of his clients. Joel and his staff were excellent in keeping me up to date on the status of my case and any required documentation needed, even though I'm out of state. Any time I had a question or a comment about the case, I had a reply within hours, even on weekends or evenings. Not sure what I was thinking in hiring him. I first met with his paralegal, Liz and she was great. I never met with the attorney until we went to court. The paralegal had quoted a certain price and the price that I was billed after everything was double what we had agreed upon. She had left the practice at this time and his Mom took over in that capacity. It was a very simple case, yet I had to guide him along at each step. He made a lot of excuses why things were not handled promptly and correctly. However, I contacted the county, which he kept blaming things on and they indicated that they were waiting for responses from him. He told me, "If my husband and I were happier with the process, things would go a lot better." Not sure what mine and my husband's happiness has to do with our case, but whatever you say Joel. The paperwork was not correct, it indicated that my husband had a maiden name, addresses were not correct, dates were not correct, etc so the paperwork all had to be redone. Please hire at your own risk.

Mr. Harris handles his cases and clients with expertise and empathy. He really cares about your problems. In fact, in a recent court appearance, he remembered a key point of contention in my case that I had forgotten. Great lawyer, and always reasonable.

I went to Joel on my Divorce and custody and while that was going on my son was in a car accident... He handled both amazingly. The divorce was fast and my son got a settlement on his accident for way more than we expected. I call him everytime I have a legal question and it is just like talking to an old friend.
