I would highly recommend this law firm. I had a personal injury claim and I worked closely with Paul Schmitz. He was very professional and worked hard on my behalf. Even during COVID when there was a delay in court hearings he always communicated with me on my case. He was always responsive. I believe we received the best outcome based on my injury.

Have been with this law firm for almost 40 years. They are attentive to their client's needs. Explain everything in layman terms. Quick turn around regarding business rules relating to the state of Missouri. Knowledgeable in all things related to corporations. Both Gary and Bill Uthoff are genuine in their desire to help their clients.

Let’s face it, no one ever really wants to need the services of an attorney. But, if you ever find yourself in such a situation, please do yourself a favor and meet with the attorneys at UGBB. I have worked with Dave Adam for the past four years.. His kindness was much appreciated and he was absolutely wonderful to work with . His blend of kindness, expertise, and “talking to” was just what I needed when I needed it the most! My family and I will continue to entrust UGBB with legal assistance to our family. Issues we have worked with UGBB on include representation in franchise contracts and relationships, employment issues, tax issues, and real estate leases come to mind . Dave grants us one stop shopping for legal services – and even helpful general business advice. Highly recommend UBB.

Jim Schleiffarth, is our Estate Lawyer. Jim set up our Trust & Will. Jim is very professional, efficient and easy to work with. He was very knowledgeable with the legal aspect of the Trust and very helpful with finding the correct verbiage to use for our individual situation. Jim also took time to offer different scenarios that fit our needs. We were very happy with him and would recommend his services to family and friends!

They were professional, polite, and were focused on helping me fit my unique estate planning needs. They explained why they recommended one avenue of asset transfer over another instead of simply recommending a more expensive route, and they explained why they thought one option was better than another for achieving my personal goals. Also, they were very straight forward with their pricing, and did not change any surprise fees after the fact and explained their pricing very honestly.

Tom was great! Kept me on track with my paperwork and took it and did what he knows best. Kept telling me all was good and it was. My claim went through on the 1st go. He told me step by step what would happen. Great guy.

Have never used a lawyer before, but Mr. Lemley was highly recommended to me by a friend. Tom explained the disability process to me in detail, and was very patient with me, as I had a lot of questions and concerns. He told me what I could expect, answered all my questions, kept me up to date on the process, and gave an approximate timeline on a result. Mr. Lemley was always there for me whenever I needed him, and ALWAYS returned my phone calls or e-mails, usually in less than an hour. He is definitely the reason I am receiving my social security disability today. I couldn't imagine going through this process alone. I would highly recommend Tom Lemley to anyone needing a lawyer.

On two separate and unrelated real estate issues Mr Disabato was able to quickly resolve title issues and deed filings. Living out of state it could have been a disaster hiring an attorney sight unseen but I was very, very fortunate and pleased with his representation. I would use him again in a heartbeat and highly recommend him.

We hired Mr. Disabato and his brother for a lawsuit surrounding real estate that had been going on for 1 full year with an attorney. They met with me and were frank and to the point. They put me at ease by explaining every aspect of the process. They listened and heard my concerns and gave realistic possibilities. Within 3 months the case that had been dragged out by another attorney for 1 full year had ended with a huge victory. You will not be disappointed with their high skill set and professionalism. Complete WIN_WIN_WIN!! Thank You

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Saint Louis, Missouri?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
