They are awesome! Todd has represented me on multiple traffic violations over the years. Jenn, his paralegal is the best! It’s as easy as sending a text with the citation, and sending over a quick Venmo. They do the rest!

Suggest you don't hire this guy unless you enjoy missed court dates, endless continuances, a suspended drivers license, arrest warrants put out on you, massive disruptions to your life, and your own attorney lying to you. I got a speeding ticket in Maryland Heights and hired Todd to have it amended to a non-moving violation. He was able to make a deal with the prosecutor for me to take a driver education course, which I did, and pay a fine. I was okay with this; it was a good deal. But instead of just giving me the signed plea form and letting me pay the fine afterwards, he suddenly decided that he could "get a better deal" for me in St. Louis County Court, whatever that means. So he set up another court date and then asked for continuances FIVE times after that. His client communication is extremely poor; I had to insist he tell me why he wanted to change it to county court after the deal was already made, and after that he never told me why he was requesting so many continuances, not a single time. I ended up having to follow my own freaking case on Missouri Casenet because he just flat-out didn't talk to me. Then my latest court date came and went and he didn't show, so they put out an arrest warrant on me this past Monday and suspended my license. I was LIVID. I have a very stressful workload at my day job and have to care for my elderly mother, so driving is simply not optional. I have to be able to do it. I spent the better part of this past Monday looking for potential alternative representation, arguing with Todd and getting him to send me the signed plea deal, which was like extracting teeth, and then going in to pay it. I NEEDED TO BE AT WORK AND I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS. I also had to ask my partner to disrupt her life to take me to pay the fine because I technically couldn't drive. Then Todd decided to blow smoke up my rear end and leave a voice mail telling me that I had this document all along since last summer. I searched my email and their client portal, and they had never sent it to me before this Monday, never instructed me to take the signed form to the court to make payment. YOU CAN'T LIE ABOUT WHAT IS IN EMAIL, Todd. It was unfair and unjust for my own attorney to deny me fair and timely resolution to my case. Perhaps if he spent more time actually working on his clients' cases instead of looking for ways to artificially inflate his Google Maps rating, things might not turn out like this for his clients. I would give Todd Mandel a thousand negative stars if that were an option.

Jim Schleiffarth, is our Estate Lawyer. Jim set up our Trust & Will. Jim is very professional, efficient and easy to work with. He was very knowledgeable with the legal aspect of the Trust and very helpful with finding the correct verbiage to use for our individual situation. They were professional, polite, and were focused on helping me fit my unique estate planning needs. They explained why they recommended one avenue of asset transfer over another instead of simply recommending a more expensive route, and they explained why they thought one option was better than another for achieving my personal goals. Also, they were very straight forward with their pricing, and did not change any surprise fees after the fact and explained their pricing very honestly.

Stuart has handled many cases for me over the years. Many attorneys only want to communicate through email and are difficult to get on the phone, This is not the case with Stuart. He reminds me of an intelligent, diligent pitbull that you can rely on.

I'm so thankful for Breanna and Vicki at Onder Law for taking on my car accident case. They were in communication with me every step during my claim, and I had nothing to worry about. I was compensated more than fair and I'm very grateful. Without Breanna and Vicki I don't know what I would've done. Thanks Breanna & Vicki!!! Thank you Onder Law!!!

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Saint Louis, Missouri?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
