I've been a client of Mr. Malloy for several years and I would recommend him to everyone! The disability approval process is very complicated but him and his team are amazing! Because of my mental health, I sometimes worry about if I'm bothering him or asking too many questions, but he is professional, empathetic and knowledgeable. With him, I know that there's someone who cares about his clients and delivers the right advice! He and Drew Barker are reliable and people I trust 100%.

I worked with Mr. Malloy after I was involved in an accident with a drunk driver. Our case against the insurance company encountered numerous roadblocks, but Andy was persistent and I was eventually awarded the maximum amount.

Late last year I was referred to Mr. Malloy by another attorney, who couldn’t handle my particular legal matter due to a conflict. The issue that my company was involved in eventually included litigation. Mr. Malloy and his team were great to work with, I really knew they cared about, not just me, but were at all times intensely concerned about the outcome of my issue and how it could possibly affect me, and my company. Although the matter was primarily corporate in nature, they really treated me personally, especially taking into consideration my input and concerns, all the while managing my expectations. I have been involved with other attorney's who 'know what’s best for me', and at times, don't seem to consider, or even ask, my input on matters. His billing was fair, especially with what I had paid other firms in the past to handle similar matters and with less stellar outcomes compared to the results of Andy Malloy's hard work and strategy. The best part was Andy Malloy went up against an opposing counsel from one of those 'silk stocking' firms who 'couldn't believe the jury verdict' which Andy Malloy delivered in my favor, that included a very satisfying cash payout. I could have given him an 'excellent' on all categories listed above, the only category I didn't give him an ‘excellent’ on was 'knowledge', and that was simply because he doesn’t pretend to 'know everything on all legal matters', like some attorney's would like you to believe. He does his research, consults with other legal professionals, so his answers are right rather than instant. In fact recently he helped coordinate me working with another attorney on a matter that was specific to this lawyer’s field. If you want a personal touch to handle a legal matter for you I would call Andy Malloy first, if it doesn't fit his expertise he will get you connected with the best attorney, not just another attorney in his firm, and you will never feel ‘nickel and dimed’ to death. ANY time I have ANY legal issue I call Andy Malloy first and let him figure the best way to handle it, he is always upfront and honest on whether it is a matter he is best suited to handle, in any case I know he will give a thoughtful, researched and, most importantly, an independent and unbiased opion and strategy to handle the matter along with a referral if that is the best route to take. If you need further information on my experience with Mr. Malloy please feel free to contact me at 314 426 4321.

I was fortunately referred to Jill Bollwerk for legal representation. She was outstanding in professionally handling every aspect of my case, which had some complexities. There also was no initial consultation fee. If she practices in the area of law you seek representation for, I recommend you make an initial appointment to let her review your case. I left her office knowing I was in good hands after our first meeting. You'll find she and her office staff to be trustworthy, warm, and excellent communicators. As a result, Jill Bollwerk earns my highest recommendation.

I have had several conversations with Mr. Davis and each time have been impressed with his knowledge base, his kindness and his flexibility. Thus far I've only needed to consult, and have found him to be quite fair and generous in terms of his time, his fees, his expertise and his advice. He made stressful situation much easier-- If I ever need to hire him for a full case I would not hesitate to do so. Thanks for all your help, Matt. TS, St. Louis

  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Saint Louis, Missouri?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
