I was going through a horrible divorce and needed to hire Dennis, he was always so nice to me and he also let me do payment plans he knew I was poor but I was going through a divorce already. It took about a year but he took care of everything and everything on my background check and everything is totally clear and free and great because of him!! I really didn’t even think he was that expensive either but with how good he is!! My ex-husband even hired him for something too I thought that was very funny because I used him against him so it shows how good my lawyer was. Dennis is the best!

I came to Dennis when I was in a vulnerable place and needed help. I had just received my third DWI and I knew they would want me to do jail time so I was in a panic. Dennis got me in to see him right away and after only one meeting had my nerves calmed down. After talking for only an hour he already had a plan to tackle my mistake. He is one the most professional people I have ever met. Thanks to Dennis I was able to avoid jail time and have now turned my life around and stayed away from acohol since. He treated me with a tremendous amount of respect. He explained everything I needed to know throughout the entire case. I would refer any and every person I know to Dennis because I know they would be getting the very best representation.

At first, Dennis seemed to be a really nice guy; we really liked him. However, before court, and in our meetings with him, he kept pushing us to sign documents rather than going to trial...this was NOT to our best interests...as we much later, and after court, found out. He could have easily taken our case to trial, and we most definitely wouldn't have gotten signed into a legal, and permanent, record, as Dennis pushed for us to do, and we trusted his legal advice. Had this attorney, instead, given a chance at getting our case in front of a judge, there most like would have been NO record, as another judge that saw the petition even commented that "our case should not have even been accepted in this venue". We were sickened, and very upset, by going with Dennis' advice, especially after hearing this, and knowing now, that there is a record for life...which didn't need to exist, at all. Also, Dennis many, many times, did not return emails or phone calls, and cancelled meetings at different times, which cost us time away from work.

I could not be happier with the gartner law firm. I was referred to them by a friend also in the legal field. Right away when I talked to matt gartner about my particular work comp case he was very easy to talk to and did not give me that "salesman vibe" I would know as I am a salesman by profession. Matt did an excellent job explaining all the ins and outs of my particular case and looked at everything in a very objective fashion. Now I will say you must be patient with this process! You will not get results overnight. You must be patient to get the best result. That being said I'd be more than happy to suggest anyone with personal injury or work comp matters to consider the gartner law firm. I now know they are hands down my go to guys for anything work comp or personal injury related. Thanks again gartner law firm

I hired Tim after my original attorney had heath issues and had to drop my case. Little did I know how poor my first attorney was until I saw what a great attorney can do. My case was extremely complicated and the way Tim and Michael managed it was exceptional. Very professional and results oriented I will continue to highly recommend.

MR. BOND WILKINSON PROVIDED LEGAL COUNSEL FOR A FAMILY MATTER INVOLVING MY DAUGHTER. SHE SWERVED TO MISS A DEER AND INADVERTENTLY CAUSED PERSONAL PROPERTY DAMAGE TO A HOME. MR. WILKINSON REDUCED THE FINE AND VIOLATION CHARGE. HE WENT OUT OF HIS WAY TO ATTEND NIGHT COURT IN WILDWOOD MO. HE IS VERY EASY TO WORK WITH. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND HIM FOR ANY OF YOUR LEGAL NEEDS.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Saint Peters, Missouri?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
