They were hired by my father, when my mother was neglected, in a nursing home. My mother passed, due to the circumstances of the neglect. Lori Rook had evidence, that the doctor and the administrator of the nursing home, had been told, numerous times, that my mother needed to see a wound doctor, and both denied her the care she needed. They would not allow her to be sent to a wound doctor, and even tried to stop my father from taking her. My mother suffered terribly in her final months, because of this. We wanted their license. We didn’t want anyone to go through what my mother went through. They called my father in to do a mediation with the doctor and administrator, and their attorneys. They would not allow any of his 5 children to be present. My father was 79 years old, had a pacemaker/defibrillator, and was diabetic. He sat in one of the office rooms for 6 hours, with no food, and was told that if he didn’t settle, and pay Medicare back for Momma’s care, that when he needed Medicare to cover him, they would not. He was basically badgered into settling. When it was all said and done, he received maybe a third of the total settlement. Basically, they needed to generate revenue for their office. They didn’t care about justice for my mother. They didn’t care about my father, or his needs, when they were doing the mediation. As a diabetic, he was shaking so bad that he could hardly walk, by the time he left the office. They didn’t offer him a break or anything to eat. It was an awful experience, and it didn’t end there. My father paid Lori Rook a sizable amount of money to prepare a Living Will/Power of Attorney, for in case he was living, yet incapacitated, and an Executor of Estate, for after his death, so we did not have to go through probate. Now, I am told that there is no such a thing as an Executor of Estate paperwork, and that what I have “died with him.” My father went to his death, believing that he had given me the authority to take care of all his affairs, and believing that is what he paid for. I called the office and spoke with Dawn about this, and she said that what I have “died with him.” I explained that that is not what my father believed he had paid for (and I know, because I was there when Lori told him that). I asked if they could just write a short letter stating that my father appointed me executor. I was told that since I was not their client, they didn’t have to do anything for me. My father trusted them. He trusted them to seek justice for my mother’s murder. He trusted them to make sure his legal affairs would be taken care of upon his death. We could have printed what they gave us, off the internet, and just had it notorized. Save your money. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS LAW FIRM!
