Jon Pitts Injury Law . What can I say “ This Dude Rocks. Not only did he get a high award settlement, but he settled his highest award in my case. Myself being a simple layman became concerned of the outcome. I Must say “Hang In there and be patient “ ( Jon is Truly working for Your Best Possible Outcome) COMPLETELY satisfied. Understand and ACCEPT the fact that it will take many years to achieve your value.

Jon and staff have been a blessing to me throughout this journey. There were no surprises. Jon walked me through the process and let me know what I should expect. Jon worked diligently to get a settlement that was a reflection of my injury. Highly recommend.

Pros
1

3
Attorneys with strong legal expertise and a track record of successful outcomes
“Branden is an amazing attorney. He represented our son in a fairly serious case. He was diligent and professional and was great at explaining everything so we fully understood. It was a long, difficult case but he got the best deal he could and we are forever grateful.”
4
Reasonable and transparent pricing with no hidden fees
“Branden was very forthcoming with his fees; which were more than reasonable. He communicated clearly with me and guided me through my legal challenges.”
5
Personable and down-to-earth attorneys who treat clients like family
“Branden is an extremely genuine person who wants the best outcome possible for his clients. He is personally vested in defending you to the best of his ability, and is very understanding with your situation.”
Cons
1
Potential for a small number of unresponsive or unhelpful staff members
“I had 4 different phone appointments set up wit”
2
Isolated incidents of client dissatisfaction with case outcomes or attorney performance
“He advised me to plead guilty to his charges and take a plea deal that, in general opinion, was terrible. Branden stated that the judge would be more lenient. He knew that the judge would be the worst for this case as he was called on by a group for lenient sentencing in 2016. (One would hope his lawyer knew this. If you practice criminal law in Greene County as your profession, this should be common knowledge. All it took was google search to find this out after the fact unfortunately) This was never once brought up to the client.”

We were in an out-of-state accident with an under-insured motorist and were faced with negotiating with our insurance company for injury damages. To make things more difficult, Steve Aton took over the case well into the game. Mr. Aton put together a straight-forward, to-the-point case, saw to it that expert medical opinions on both the extent of injuries and the future costs for care were in order, made it clear that we would not accept a nominal settlement, and demonstrated that we were prepared for trial. In the end, our reluctant insurance company paid out to the limits of our policy. Steve Aton was personable, professional, and effective. We could not have asked for better legal representation.

We used Mr. Aton to advise us and prepare our estate planning documents when we married. We are a blended family with adult kids, kids in college and grandkids from prior marriages; so, to us the process seemed daunting or even impossible. He explained our options and different solutions to our situation in a clear and concise way that we could understand. He is very practical in his advice and was really good to explain things in layman's terms vs. a lot of legalese. We have referred him to other members of our family as a result of our experiences with him. Mr. Aton also handled an injury case for our daughter when she was hurt on some city property where she was away at college in a town about 100 miles from our home. He handled that very satisfactorily for us. It was a long and tedious process, but he kept us well informed along the way.

Words can not express the gratitude in our hearts for the incredible work done by Nick Smart and Steve Garner and the whole team at Strong-Garner-Bauer P.C. It took many hours of preparation, and we are so thankful for the outcome. Rebekah and Ann thank you so much as well as the other staff and attorneys who all had major roles. This was an uphill battle that took 5 years to culminate in a jury of peers, to finally say what we have been saying all along, that this kind of behavior will not be tolerated in Greene County Missouri. I would recommend this firm without hesitation. They took this case with all its baggage, knowing that cooperation from witnesses with police was limited. They are top notch and I would still recommend even if the outcome had been different. My advice... don't give up hope. We are still praying for an arrest.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Springfield, Missouri?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
