Absolute worst lawyer EVER!!! NOT ONLY DID SHE DO ABSOLUTELY NOTHING SHE GUIDED US INTO A HUGE DEBT. Told us to stay at the house until we got evicted. Which cost us 2 more months of rent. Sent me to court an made me look like an idiot in front of the judge. Then completely BAILED ON US an closed out or case. This lawyer should have her license stripped an we will be calling more lawyers. I will be pushing to sue you also for improperly representing us. You are the biggest joke of a lawyer I have ever seen. We followed your advice step by step an your now telling us you can't help us. You are a joke that nobody laughs at.

They provide no help when you qualify for services. They also make up excuses to not provide services. They have terrible customer service. You're on your own out here. These guys are a joke. Think of these guys as the State Farm Insurance commercial with that old fisherman that has a dollar on his fishing hook giving you the illusion of getting that dollar. That's these guys right here.

Definitely got us 4 times what we would've gotten on our own. More importantly, he took care of everything so we didn't have to spend our time researching everything.

Mr. Hanna was very professional. I had a million questions and a dozen phone calls and he walked me through every step of the process with such patience. I appreciated how none of my questions seemed dumb to him.

top notch guy to deal with, very accessible , very negligible and all around good guy. He has always made time for my phone calls and answer every question I had with the upmost respect and has always made me feel like I was his only case.

Mr. Edmiston has handled many types of legal matters for me over the years. He has always treated me with respect and I completely trust his abilities and his practices. It is not very often these things can be said about any attorney, but Mr. Edmiston has always delivered and exceeded my expectations. I trust him with everything I have. He is one of the most honest people I have ever encountered and I can always trust that he will do the best job representing me for whatever else comes my way.

David is my hero because he’s saved me more than once. He’s a down to earth kind of guy and a great attorney. I have recommended him in the past and will continue to do so. I’ve used his services more than I care to mention and he has always been fair and straight forward with me.

David Lloyd is great attorney with very reasonable rates and an honest, upfront caring man. As he has done other work for me and my family with very happy endings... When I was desperate for help with only 3 days notice, he immediately came to my aid and helped SO MUCH! He was able to tell me that very day that my case has been continued far enough away that I would have time to find a place to live! I would very much recommend this attorney to anyone!

I hired Mr. Lloyd to represent me in a Class A Misdemeanor DWI case along with a petition against the Department of Revenue (I refused the breathalyzer). In the criminal DWI case, there were several accompanying charges. The petition against the state would be quite challenging to overcome as well. Although the odds were against me, Mr. Lloyd readily took on my pair of cases. At the onset, I faced potential jail time along with losing my license for at least a year. Formal procedures commenced over the next several months. Mr. Lloyd was excellent about keeping me informed of my court dates and progress of the cases. It was apparent to me that he cared about my cases, which helped ease my mind at a time where that was not easy to do. By the conclusion of all this, Mr. Lloyd had continuously fought for the outcome of my immediate future. I believe his persistence and zeal shaped the positive result of both my cases. I served no jail time nor did I lose my license. As the end result of my cases could not have been better, I would recommend Mr. Lloyd to anyone I know. Thank you David, your representation undoubtedly changed my life for the better.

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Warrensburg, Missouri?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
