I want to leave a review for Evan Stein, who represented me as a bike rider injured when hit and run over by a pickup truck. First, communications were excellent throughout the entire process between myself and Mr. Stein. There were many layers to the negotiations and multiple parties involved and I always felt that I was kept informed at each step of the process. Second, I very much appreciated the open and realistic approach to my case. The potential value of my case, the timing within the process, seeking my input with regard to how to move forward; all of the above were handled with both professional and personal integrity towards myself and my case. Everything between myself and Mr. Stein was open and focused on both what was fair and what was possible from a legal standpoint. I would highly recommend both Berry Law and Mr. Evan Stein to any person involved in an accident who is in need of legal representation.

I highly recommend Evan Stein from Berry Law! This man will do the unimaginable for you. Evan will go to the ends of the Earth and endure the unthinkable for your hardship. When Evan represented me, I never had to wonder what was happening with my case. Evan is a man of his word and extremely reliable. Initially, I was hesitant having tried previous counsel without success. However, Evan always kept me informed with updates about my case and showed great empathy for my unique circumstances. If I reached out, which was rare, the response was almost immediate. I never had to call his firm repeatedly or wonder about the status of my case. Evan spent countless hours listening to my story and the hardships I was enduring. He even checked up on me to see how I was doing. Many people get frustrated listening to me, as my explanations can be lengthy and irritating, but not Evan. I often apologized for my lengthy explanations, yet he never got frustrated, rushed, or annoyed. Evan treated me with respect and dignity, listening with open ears. Something rarely done! If you are looking for an extraordinary attorney to represent you in what feels like a hopeless case and believe you deserve compensation for your injuries, please contact Evan Stein of Berry Law. I promise you will not be disappointed. Unlike many places where you deal with automated systems and spend over 10 minutes to reach a live person, Berry Law operates differently. You won't be leaving endless messages, hoping someone will get back to you. If you need someone who will listen to you and your case with open ears and heart, and an attorney who will fight for your due compensation, contact Berry Law and Evan Stein!

Evan was amazing! He answered all of my questions, addressed all of my concerns, and handled my claims with constant communication throughout. I felt supported during the entire process. I could not have asked for more or better representation. He was incredibly responsive and flexible based on my schedule (juggling 2 kids, personal health issues, and 2 full time jobs). I trust him completely- He really advocated for me and I would recommend him to anyone as well as hire him again if I ever need to!

One of the best! I have never met Mr. Linscott face to face and he was still able to get me a settlement on my trucking injury! I would use him again in the future and refer him to peers as well!

In September of 1999 I was in South Dakota picking up a load of rolled plastic that is used to make your dark colored trash bags with. Since I am a flatbed driver the load had to be tarped, not only to protect the load, but also for safety. While trying to climb onto the top of the load to spread the tarps I lost my footing and slipped from the top of the load. A distance of about 10 to 12 feet. The result was that I broke my wrist in 4 places and had to have surgery to put it back together again. My case took a very long 14 years from beginning to end and I credit Marty so much for helping me to hang in there. There were a couple of times I was so tired of the fight that I thought about giving up and giving in to one or two of the offers along the way. But Marty convinced me to hang in there because he was sure he could get better for me and he was right. He could not have been more accommodating and courteous in explaining and navigating all the different twists and turns we were forced to make along the way by the insurance company. I am so glad I listened to him and didn't settle my case earlier. If you want an attorney with the staunch work ethics of a pit bull and that knows the meaning of going to the mat for his client, you won't find a better lawyer than Martin V Linscott, I can't recommend Marty highly enough. Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Lincoln, Nebraska?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
