Bare with me this may be a bit lengthy. I initially applied on my own and was rejected within the 90 day parameter that SS states you will be notified. Being in the medical field for over 20 years I am very aware that SS will kick over 70% of "claimants" first applications. I was no different. DON'T GIVE UP! I was considering my options. Contacting a lawyer was top of my list. At that moment it just so happened, I saw Mr. Cuddigan's commercial and called them. They took my info and told me to wait for a call back. I have to be honest, I was a bit confused. Don't they just automatically take all cases? There lawyer's, that's what they do, right? Then, I realized, they DO NOT get paid if you do not win your case. This may sound shrewd but, it makes sense. No one is going to work for free. There may be a variable of diff reasons why they are unable to except your case. However, they need to make money, provide, and survive the same as ANY business or employee. My call was returned about 4 days later. My case was excepted an apt set to meet Mr. Cuddigan. The staff, especially the receptionist, were very welcoming. During my apt, Mr. Cuddigan did all the work for my appeal and walked me through the rest of the process. I did not have to touch one piece of paperwork (regarding appeal, doctor records, or work history) throughout the following 26 month. Huge relief! Just one small mistake can set you up for another denial. Again, my case took 26 months. This is probably not the norm' but my initial judge had to cancel my court date and it took 7 months for them to reschedule my second date. I had a difficult case to prove, plus I am under 50 years of age. This combination of circumstances are especially tough in SS cases. Best advice is to make sure you have extremely good, strong, and solid medical records going back for a while. This can be the difference in a yes, or no. Doctors, themselves, do not like to get tangled into your disability claim. Most do not want to even write a letter on your behalf or be involved period. Just make sure you hit your appointments to strengthen your case via your medical file. The judge I had was very professional but respectful, as was the job advocate. Another piece of advice, if you go into court thinking they are against you, you may take a negative or defensive attitude with you. They are there to collect information. Not beat you down or prove you wrong. Trust your lawyer, "Mr. Cuddigan" and follow his lead. Its your best bet on helping/winning your case. The comment that sticks out to me the most is when I asked Mr. Cuddigan before court..."What's the next step if I am denied?" (I can be a bit cynical) He answered back, quick as a whip..."I NEVER go into court thinking I am going to lose!" These words proved to me I had the right attorney for this job. He was right! Exactly two weeks to the day from court, I was approved. I had check from the first day I applied, through the 26 months that it took for my case to be completed. (Referred to as back pay. Not all cases are approved for this) This would not have been possible without Mr. Cuddigan and his dedicated staff. I/my family are very grateful for his full attention and dedication in my case. Applying for SS can be a very embarrassing, degrading, and stress induced process to go through. I never thought I would have to do this. I had a feeling of uselessness about myself. As well as depression, due to my disability and being unable to work. Mr. Cuddigan & staff however, treated me with so much grace, respect, and dignity it took the edge off. One of the many reasons I would NEVER hesitate to refer anyone to him and his office for any legal matter they may come across.

To preface this, I don't know how good they are if they actually take your case. I initially contacted them via website and within a day or so I got a phone call to take my initial assessment. After that they said I'd be contacted again once the lawyer has reviewed my information. For the first time since I started trying to get Disability (and being denied twice) I was hopeful. After not hearing anything for a month I called them and they told me I was supposed to be set up for someone to call me back a week after my initial phone call, but my information was misplaced. Strike one. But stuff happens, so I set up a time to call back to speak with an actual lawyer. When I called at my scheduled time I was told that the lawyer was still preparing and that he'd call me back. An hour later I still had no phone call. I tried to call them, but by then they were closed. I gave it a couple of days to see if they'd do the right thing and call me back to apologize and reschedule, but of course there was no phone call. Strike two. So I had to call them again and had to have another call scheduled, because the lawyer was initially too busy to take my scheduled phone call. Once I called for the second attempt I did actually speak with a lawyer. And he told me that he "couldn't figure out" my case and it's too difficult to get Disability as a young person, so he would not take on my case. These are exact reasons why a lawyer would be great, yet they wouldn't take my case? Makes no sense to me. So if you're anything but elderly I'd suggest going to another lawyer. I will say that the staff that answered the phone were nice.

The Cuddigan team was extremely helpful in guiding me through the disability claim process. They were always available to answer my questions and kept me up-to-date in what is a fairly complicated situation.

My experience with Greg lake was phenomenal! His paralegal (Calyssa Cinceros) was super easy to work with too, i mostly communicated with her and she always got back to me fast! Greg is super knowledgeable and knows what he’s doing, he definitely cares about his clients and will do everyone in his power to work in your best interest! He was super easy to talk to and understand, law language is so confusing and he was able to communicate it so I wasn’t overwhelmed. love the firm in general, everyone is welcoming and nice!
