Garima Jain (Varshney) and her partner Radford Smith are wonderful, genuinely caring people, and they provided unmatched legal counsel on my behalf as the plaintiff in my divorce. I had the additional complication and distraction of a life-threatening illness which requires a significant amount of daily care. Garima and Radford were extremely accommodating and made sure that opposing counsel was respectful of my medical challenges. Garima and Radford were deliberate in dealing with opposing counsel, without being provocative, and used their well tuned legal expertise to bring about a settlement, avoiding the expense of trial preparation and a trial. I can think of many opportunities where Garima and Radford could have taken a path that would have increased their billable hours, but instead, the path they chose prioritized what was best for me to achieve a swift and fair outcome. I estimate my costs would have been double what they were if we would have had to go to trial instead of a pre-trial settlement. I think that it’s typical for both parties to feel like a divorce settlement is unfair, but I felt like I got a more fair settlement than my ex. A decision to retain Smith Jain Stutzman is the first step to your freedom and an opportunity to get a fresh start to your life.

From the moment i contacted Garima i felt at ease. I had a very complex case as i explained at our intial meeting. She fully believed in me and that the case was something we could conquer. Every step of the way she was a phone call or email away. She valued my opinion all the time. She has the heart and drive of none other. This case went a long time but we made it through it and i couldn’t of got the results without Garima!!!! She is a vital partner to her firm and it show’s in her attention to detail! Thank you from the bottom of our Heart’s!!!!

Saw positive reviews from years before, but I am not sure what changed her in 2023. I went in for divorce representation, she did not even get to my hearing and charged me $26,000 to write a child share plan and for 2 video appearances. Total time I spent on the phone was 2.5 hours and she placed my house on lien. I feel seeing my assets made her greedy to use me instead of help me. She did lacked competence and found ways to delay my case to make money. She Charges $315 to $1100 per email with one sentence to 1 paragraph. Disappointed with such dishonesty from the group and the lawyer. She billed over $16,000 for talking and sending emails to people without my consent. I had to go get another lawyer. In total, she charged 4 times the regular amount for the poor work she did.

I have worked with Radford and Garima as a testifying expert in cryptocurrency analysis. I can confidently state that Rad and his team are incredibly professional, hospitable, and select great clients. My expertise is in a very niche field which requires a degree of effort to simplify, but Rad and his team were eager to learn, and learned, much about digital assets and tracing them -- and applied this knowledge decisively resulting in a case outcome that matched my analysis. If you are or may be experiencing a divorce, or any situation involving undisclosed digital assets, you will be in excellent hands with Radford and his team.

Attorney Nick Donath is an excellent attorney of whom I give the highest praise. Mr. Donath is extremely prompt at returning calls on the same day, he is down to earth, eager to help, personable, and extremely knowledgeable. He is a great general attorney, which was my reasoning for hiring him to represent our company. He does specialize in real estate, but works in all areas. He is an honest attorney-- rare anywhere and especially in Las Vegas. If he cannot answer right away, he will find an answer. I Highly recommend this attorney.

I was being tarred and feathered by an overly zealous professional Board, whose only agenda was ending my ability to work, not to deal with me fairly. Nick Donath got through to them that my offense was not equal to a loss of license. He also put them off long enough for all of us to regroup and consider our options. Nick is a fine Attorney, well worth your time and money.

I’m not one to let someone handle my business, but getting into an accident is stressful. And when you have to deal with insurance, that makes it much worse. I knew I was going to need help. I was so lucky to find Hammond & Hammond. I worked with Tyler and his team who worked very hard for me. He is reliable, very communicative, knowledgeable, and is more than happy to explain the process every step of the way. The price is very reasonable for the quality I received. I hope to never have another accident again, but I know where to go if I do. I can’t thank them enough for all their hard work.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Henderson, Nevada?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
