The day comes after you have been charged by LVMPD. The Judge cannot assign you to a public defender because there is some sort of conflict of interest. Instead the courts appointed a private Attorney that is paid by the state. Most of the time when a defendant is assigned to a lawyer appointed by the state, there is great deal of fear and concern that presents itself. Concern that since this lawyer is being compensated by the state that they are not going to be "on your team". Typically a defendant also does not expect much effort on their behalf. This was not at all the situation that presented itself when Mr Martin W. Hart was assigned to a defendant, that faced Felony charges; which could have resulted in up to 16 years in prison. Mr Hart contacted the defendant and discussed the case well before the scheduled court date. He listened to the defendant and did not assume anything. Mr Hart always had the defendants best interest in mind each step of the way. It took over 14 months of hard work and dedication from Mr Hart and his team of individuals. Reviewing over 27 body cameras worn by officers and countless hours of footage. After the dust finally settled, the charges that could have resulted in over a decade and a half in prison were ultimately dismissed. If you are debating which lawyer to hire, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Mr Hart and his team to anyone that wants not only justice served but also a lawyer that is willing to fight for his client IN PURSUIT of that Justice. What a fantastic lawyer!! He was able to catch my wife in the lie that would have given her the ability to take my children from me. What happened was that my wife completely fabricated a domestic violence incident which got me kicked out of my house, got my kids taken from me, and almost got me fired from my job. I thank God for the blessing of finding Marty. He is completely ethical using honesty as his framework for doing business. He told me he would not lie in court for me. I appreciate that he has enough integrity to not manipulate the system but knows the Nevada legal system well enough to effectively maneuver his way arround the often difficult and sometimes unfair system we live in. My court anxiety completly disappeared the second Marty showed up and took charge. Before the trial, he spoke with the DA and asked him to use some common sense in assessing the case because her story was a lie. When that didn’t work and we had to go trial, he aggressively examined my wife but then backed off and let her hang herself as she tried to explain her lies.  Mr. Hart then used humor to diffuse tension when the DA objected during our closing argument. The judge seemed to appreciate this and chuckled a little before she moved onto the more important matters like the verdict. He went up against a liar and a tough DA who unfortunately believed her and showed the Judge that I was completely innocent. The judge even said that his work allowed her to see completely through the story being told. Her comment on all this was that she believed my wife completely fabricated the whole event to get an advantage in family court. Which was completly accurate. I would never have abused my wife. I could not have done this on my own and owe Marty my utmost respect for his work on this one. I was represented very well by Marty and his staff. I had never been arrested before and was facing a serious charge. Marty and his staff always returned calls and responded to all of my questions.
