When I was ending my 29 year marriage, I tried unsuccessfully to find a law firm to assist me with filing for divorce. The Hill Law Group was the only law firm that returned my phone call and set up a consultation quickly. From the first time I walked into their office, I was treated with courtesy and kindness and professionalism. Mr. Hill and Faith were through and helped me along the way. Mr. Hill helped me achieve a fair settlement and finalized my divorce. I highly recommend The Hill Law Group.

The Hill Law Group were truly amazing in helping me with both my Child Custody Case, and Personal Injury Case. Robert and Faith answered any questions I had in a timely, caring and professional manner. Robert went above and beyond to ensure I had all of the help I needed for myself and my son. His experience and expertise is second to none. His ‘no nonsense’ manner in the courtroom left me feeling calm knowing he has everything under control. The information he gave me was always straight to the point and never misleading, I was always given realistic expectations and felt prepared going into every portion of my case. Robert always fought for us and ensured I was getting everything we were entitled to. He made sure we were protected not only in the moment, but also for any future situations that may arise. I never felt intimidated by the other party with Robert by my side. Faith is an absolute asset to the team. Her knowledge and experience is beyond comparison and I truly leaned on her through every season of my case. Her caring nature combined with a dose of tough love when I needed it has grown me into a stronger woman. I was a timid, shy, scared girl walking into their office for our first meeting, and I emerged a confident woman who knew her rights and was ready to take on the battle ahead. I can’t recommend or thank them both, and Yvette who is also amazing, enough. As for my Personal Injury Case, they secured me a sizable payment for my injury and also made sure they covered all avenues possible to ensure I was getting everything I was entitled to. With Robert and Faith by my side I felt comforted, calm and informed as I went through this difficult season of life. 100/10 service.

I am grateful I found Robert and his team to help me through my divorce/child custody case and was able to get everything I wanted when the time came! Everyone involved from Robert’s team really helped me through it and answered every question even if I had already asked the same question before! Faith is a total sweetheart and will put a smile on your face when you talk with her! Thanks for all you did for me Robert! I am grateful for the decision I took to hire you for your services!

Pros
1
Knowledgeable, professional, and ethical attorneys who prioritize the well-being of their clients and their children
“Robert and Shauna did an amazing job with my divorce case. They were very knowledgeable, professional and ethical, but more importantly, their first concern was for the well being of my children.”
2
Caring, compassionate, and understanding attorneys who make clients feel supported during difficult times
“Never have I been treated so much like a real person rather than 'a client' in my whole life. I have dealt with many attorneys in my life but never with such professionalism and kindness.”
3
Affordable and transparent pricing without excessive fees or nickel-and-diming
“They didn't nickel & dime me, I was impressed with the high quality service I received at an affordable rate, they aren't that type of office to overcharge for every little thing.”
4
Efficient and timely handling of cases, with a focus on achieving the best possible outcome for the client
“The entire process was completed incredibly fast. During such a difficult time in my life, I wanted nothing more than to put my past behind me.”
5
Excellent communication and responsiveness, keeping clients informed and involved throughout the process
“Shauna's courteous professionalism was exemplified by the way she managed my case. Her responses to all my questions were always timely, along with those of her assistant.”
Cons
1
Potential for incompetence or lack of attention to detail, resulting in unsatisfactory outcomes or delays
“I wasted my money and time and I was even told by this lawyer to just not get a divorce she was just nice at first but once she has your money she goes to vacation all the time I mean every week and she always has an excuse why your case is not moving forward.”
2
Possibility of poor client service or lack of responsiveness, leaving clients feeling frustrated and unsupported
“He literally didn't do anything my husband asked him to do in court and constantly told the judge the wrong information and had to be corrected in court. $7,000 later, custody was the same, with a few stipulations. We contacted him several times to get a copy of the agreement and he completely ghosted us.”

I don't bother to write reviews, but I felt like I needed to after such a positive experience with The Bunker Law Group. Ben was very professional, showed great knowledge for the work I had him do, and finished it in half the time I thought it would take him. Ben exceeded my expectations in every category. 5 Stars all around. Highly recommended.

Gabrielle Jones is a compassionate, professional attorney that works hard for her clients. I am fortunate to have been referred to her, and I don't think anyone could have handled my divorce, custody, and support issues as seamlessly as she did. She took SO much weight off my shoulders. I HIGHLY recommend her!

Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?

  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Las Vegas, Nevada?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
