Tax Law Center Dear Mr. Grossman Thank you for taking on my very complex IRS case for the last three years. I remember when I first met you, you were a bit astounded how I was able to accumulate such debt and get myself into a situation where I owed the IRS over one million dollars. In spite of the length and complexity of my case, you stayed with me and gave your very best consideration to my case. From time to time I would lose hope and question myself if I would ever get out of this mess. You always reassured me to be patient, and stay the course, you were extremely professional and sensitive to all my concerns. You provided me assurance that my problems with the IRS could be solved. You were right on every issue and you solved my case. I want to thank you for negotiating the Offer in Compromise agreement with the IRS and settling my debt for 5% of what was originally owed, you saved me $950,000. I could not have managed the IRS without you by my side, you removed a tremendous burden from my life and allowed me to move on. You have my deepest gratitude for that!! I would highly recommend contacting Mr. Grossman if you have issues with the IRS.

I don't usually leave recommendation but  just want to give my great thanks to a great Attorney that left me with NO doubts about what was going to occur when it came to my taxes. I never thought I would be rid of this problem. Attorney Robert Grossman put me at ease from the first meeting. Adjectives that encompassed my experience: Professional, Prompt (he personally called me back whenever I had a question), No-Nonsense, Kind, Knowledgeable, Locally-Owned Business. I didn’t want to go to a ‘Tax Mill’ and be treated like a number. His expertise in the field and prior IRS experience makes him the man for the job. I paid less than 9 cents on the dollar for what was a ‘nightmare on my street’ for sure. I highly recommend Attorney Robert Grossman!

Bob and his team are the best. There is a small group of top-tier attorneys that handle tax issues in Las Vegas. Bob is among the best. The IRS knows him and trusts him, which is key. I was able to get an installment agreement; no big breaks because of my income. But, without Bob, the process was starting to get scary. Bob figured out how to make a deal and I am deeply appreciative of his and Cheryl's efforts. THANKS!

Bob depth of tax law experience and his bilingual skills helped us immeasurably with guiding us through the audit process and in representing our interests and small but internationally-based business during the audit. We highlight herein and appreciate his time efficiency. Bob is a professional in every respect and we do not hesitate to recommend him. IRS sent an audit notice in which they "helpfully" pre-determined that they'd recognize our small business income but ignore all of our small business expenses. Even after the audit, in which we supplied all required support documentation, they managed to misplace an entire folder of it that we had to resupply. In the end, the IRS demand was completely resolved with no additional taxes owed.

We had been dealing with some back taxes for some time. We thought we had been taking care of it. Just before Christmas a IRS collection officer showed up at our door. We also had 2 years that had not been filed that we did not know about. After a few days of worry over Christmas weekend, I contacted the office of Robert Grossman. Mr Grossman called me back on Christmas day. He immediately started to put me fears at ease. Asked me to come to his office on the Tuesday after Christmas. The wife and I met with Mr. Hatch, the other attorney in the office, who went right to work on the problem within the first ten minutes of our meeting. A week later Mr Hatch had our issues wrapped up with the IRS. Did we owe the money to the IRS yes, but Mr Hatch made sure the amounts were correct and true. He also let the collections office know the stress they put on us because of the horrible holiday timing they had. As it turns out we were a training case for a newly hired collections employee. We have never hired a attorney before for anything but I would never hesitate a second to send anyone to these two men. They took the time to answer phone calls and let us pop in for quick 10 minute comfort or help sessions.

Jan was recently referred to me by a highly profile attorney. Let's just say this person is a Good-Man. I had a consultation with Jan during a game of Raquetball at Lifetime fitness. This is where I do a lot of business. Because golf gives you skin cancer I have to say I was blown away at his knowledge of the law and the city being raised here. I myself am a 30 year resident with multiple businesses and ex wives. Don't do that lol... the ex wives part I will definitly recommend him to all my friends and family.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Las Vegas, Nevada?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
