Excellent legal skills and expertise in handling a variety of cases, including DUI, criminal appeals, and other complex legal matters

Compassionate and understanding approach, treating clients as individuals rather than just cases

I was represented by attorney Doty in an administrative matter before a licensing board. She was incredibly kind, thoughtful, and diligent in her work to obtain the best possible outcome and help me with my situation. She made sure to word things in a way that felt natural to me but also never strayed into gray areas. She took the time to understand my situation and made sure to represent it honestly and factually. She is honest and above board, and I'd recommend her in a heartbeat.

Attorney Ted Lothstein was incredibly diligent in helping me achieve the best possible outcome for my case. He was quick to answer and return my calls and never made me feel judged or culpable. As an out of state DUI, he was very knowledgeable on all the workings and proceedings of my situation and I would highly recommend him to anyone seeking good legal counsel. Thanks Ted

My name is Morgan - I earned a DUI in September 2023. I hired Ted as my attorney as the case was too complicated for me to deal with on my own - I got the DUI in NH, but I reside in Florida. I needed help to navigate the court systems in both states as well as in my absence from NH. Ted did a fantastic job. He and his support staff were on top of everything in the most helpful of ways. I am easily confused and they explained everything to me and really helped me get through the process as painlessly as possible. I am completely satisfied with the job they did for me and I feel the fee was well earned. I am planning on using Ted for all my future DUI's from here on out. ........That's a joke.

October 22, 2022 was the day I made the biggest mistake of my life! I was arrested for a DUI by NH State Police. A few days went by and I now had to face the reality of what was to come next. So, I went online and read reviews about choosing an attorney, and after narrowing it down to 3, I gave Mr. Lothstein's office a call. I spoke with the secretary and she had great things to say about Mr. Lothstein. So, I thought I would give him a chance. I set up a free telephone consult and he was very empathetic with my situation. What I liked most was his honesty with my situation. He didn't make any empty promises about getting me 100% off the charges. I appreciated that. So, after meeting with Mr. Lothstein and discussing my case, he informed me that I was looking at potential 1 year license suspension, plus a speeding fine. Which could've added 6 months to my sentence. This news was discouraging, but of course my fault! Reference letters were submitted on my behalf, and Mr. Lothstein met with the prosecuting attorney. When Mr. Lothstein called me and told me that he negotiated my sentence down to, 6 months suspended license, with 2 months already served, and they threw out the speeding fine, I was ecstatic with the news! Calling Mr. Lothstein was the best decision I could've made!! I will never be in this situation again, I promise you that. But, if it happens to anyone I know. I know what attorney to tell them to contact!

I was convicted in a NH Superior court in 2021 on multiple felonies. My family and engaged Ted to appeal the decision in 2022 and in 2023 the conviction was overturned. Throughout the whole process Ted was professional and efficient. We are grateful beyond words to Ted and his staff for literally changing our lives.

I am an out-of-state father that just won primary residential custody of my three children from a "stay-at-home mom" in New Hampshire Family Court. Thanks to Robyn's incredible efforts as my attorney, I now have my children living with me in Washington 11 months of the year, have sole authority to dispose of the marital real estate, and sole decision-making authority to make decisions about my children's lives that are in their best interests. Throughout the case, Robyn passionately advocated for me with the Court and the Guardian ad Litem, and she counseled me well through this very personal and emotional situation.

I had the pleasure of working with Daniel on a trademark case, and I was lucky to have found him. If given the opportunity, do not hesitate to work with him. Law, in general, is confusing, and Daniel could have easily added random billable hours for things that would not have helped our case. But Daniel always did what was in our best interest and showed such integrity when we worked with him. Additionally, Daniel always made himself available and explained everything in a way that was easy for me to understand. Most importantly, though, Daniel is a good person. He is someone whom I would want by my side in any case because I can trust that he is giving honest advice. Furthermore, he always delivered work on time and thought outside of the box. I can't thank him enough for all of his help, and I will be recommending him to all of my business associates.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Concord, New Hampshire?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
