Joe helped us with my father's revocable trust, albeit with many upselling attempts. After we activated the POA, we tried to set up an irrevocable trust, and he was suspicious and uncooperative. This caused a lot of anguish in our process of caring for my father's estate. I suggest going with a more holistically and comprehensively engaged estate planner.

I can’t thank Joe and his wonderful team enough. Joe, Rebecca, Celine, and Candy have been unbelievable with helping me get through a divorce. My ex-wife made up enough lies to get me arrested. It took 2 and 1/2 years to work through this because of covid. That didn’t bother the team, they were prepared and ready to go even when the court forgot to mail our court dates. With only 2 weeks notice, they were still prepared to get me a not guilty and I will be forever grateful. I can’t thank you all enough for the support and excellent representation I received. I fully support and will recommend this Law Office to anyone.

I hired one of the lawyers here to handle a bankruptcy case and meet for my free meeting bringing every piece of paper and had it in order and filled out. She asked for a couple more things which I sent over we then had a phone conversation and I was told I could not file until after the first of the year. I talked to her about getting my money back and decided instead to have her just leave things and we would revisit first of the year. Now almost 6 months later I find she has left the firm and the firm without calling was in the mist of filing for me. I had decided not to file and asked for money back and was charged $900 for my past phone calls and emails. Never being told that I was to be charged for every call or email or I never would have done so and I would have pulled my money out long ago. I expected maybe being charged $200 for what they did I do a lot more at my job for less money. BEWARE of charges you are not told about if you decide to hire this firm.

We needed help with filing for bankruptcy several years ago. He was responsible to follow all the correct laws and procedures, and made the process as painless and simple as possible.

Attorney Kelly has been a great light in the scary tunnel called Bankruptcy that I found myself in. Patient, careful and so knowledgeable this office helped me wade through the vast and overwhelming world of the U.S. Bankruptcy System. Truly such a professional individual, such a great representation of in my own opinion, of what a Lawyer someone who you trust to help you through such situations, should be.

Jessica is a very bright, knowledgeable attorney who is sensitive to her clients situation. She was my second and final attorney. Very personable and competent. My situation involved 3 children being moved out of state and into home schooling. Jessica, researched and offered advise and suggestions from past cases relevant to mine. Despite the complexities, she helped me get an amiable deal with my ex-wife within reasonable time and expense. I highly recommend her services!

i have known jessica for many years. so naturally when i needed legal help, she was the person i turned to. she was and has always been very kind and respectful. she listened to my situation and evaluated the options. she was quick to answer all my questions and did everything she could help me feel comfortable with moving forward. it was the best decision i could have made. i appreciate her help and advice and still call her for advice when needed which, of course, she is always there to help.

I have been acquainted with attorney Brian Snow for 15+ years. He became my lawyer when I was running a business. He not only improved my contracts by adding necessary clauses and making them air tight, he was also there for me whenever a legal matter arose. Several years later he handled my divorce which was a very emotional ordeal. He was understanding, patient and once again took charge of what was needed to be done. And lastly, he helped me with the ordeal regarding the sale of my house. There were multiple problems that occurred and he was there to answer my questions, intervene with other lawyers and the real estate agents, offer support, and humor. The positive outcome was due to his hard work and diligence. There is no other person that I would use to handle any legal issues. His knowledge of the law is excellent but for me what has really made the difference is that he treats me with respect and cares about my well-being. He is the kind of lawyer, all lawyer should esteem to become.

Ensure the lawyer has relevant experience in the specific area of law pertaining to your case.
  2. How do you charge for your services, and what are the estimated costs?
Understand the fee structure, including hourly rates, flat fees, retainer fees, and any additional expenses.
  3. Who will be handling my case?
Find out if the lawyer will handle your case personally or delegate tasks to other attorneys or paralegals.
  4. What is your approach to resolving cases like mine?
Learn about their strategy, whether they prefer negotiation, mediation, or litigation.
  5. What potential outcomes can I expect?
While no lawyer can guarantee results, they can provide an assessment of possible scenarios based on their experience.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Nashua, New Hampshire?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
