Very professional and honest he kept me informed about every thing that was going on with my expungement. I was also happy about his fee I feel it was very reasonable for the service he provided. I would definitely recommend Mr. Ballizia to anyone looking for legal services.

When I first contacted Mr Bellizia I was skeptical that I would hear his opinion of my attempt to have an expungement granted to me for a mistake I made in my life many years ago. My concern was that I spoke to at least 15 other attorneys and they all told me I would not be entitled. Than one night while on my computer I saw Mr Bellizia's website something told me to send him an e-mail and within 10 minutes my phone rang and it was him. I explained my case to him in detail. Mr Bellizia told me he would look into my request and get back to me. He also told me that while he would research my case he would only take it if he was sure I would receive an expungement. This told me that he was interested in me more than money. We started the process Mr Bellizia explained in detail the step by step process of the expungement. Everything that he told me happened. He was very thorough in his explanations. I also felt he cared for me more than just a client. He was always available when I needed to talk to him. His expertise and law knowledge helped me receive my expungement. I will always be grateful to Mr Bellizia for his honesty and concern for me as a person not just a client. I would recommend Mr Bellizia to anyone who needs an attorney.

At first he was very professional. And while he seemed to be a little bit scattered he eventually got my case handled. With the outcome I was looking for. I also had help from a friend with this case who works in the town I had a issue with. While Prosper did what he needed to do in representing me. I feel my outcome was mostly from my friend. But then when I needed an expungement. He asked for money. I paid in full in order to retain his services. When it came back that I couldn’t receive expungement. He kept all my money and never responded back to me again. Even though he put in minimal work/effort. Very unprofessional. Luckily I found my regular attorney. And now I am back on track with my situation. Use his services with caution.

I was hesitant at first bc he was younger than I expected but was overjoyed at the representation. He is always available by phone (which is unheard of with lawyers) completely 100 percent honest (even more rare) and he controls a courtroom when he walks into it. I have used him for four separate matters now and everytime I am pleased. Highly recommended.

I went for consult because my husband was detained by ICE. The attorney was very attentive and explained everything thoroughly also having a bilingual paralegal. They guided me through the process and we had a great outcome since my husband was released from immigration jail.

It gives me great satisfaction to recommend Timothy J. Shea. I can attest to his expertise and ability in making sure that every detail was taken care of promptly and properly. Mr. Shea was always available to answer our questions and concerns regarding our immigration process. On the morning of our biometrics appointment, we were asked for a document that we did not have. After placing a very early morning call to Mr. Shea, 15 minutes later, we had the document in our hands! What could have turned into a complete disaster was immediately resolved. Mr. Shea is reliable and responsible, he has an ability to get along with everyone. All very important traits in our world today. In closing, I would again like to thank Mr. Shea for his impeccable and diligent work. Timothy Shea is, without a doubt, the man for the job.

I hired Stephanie as my attorney for my divorce, She was best of the best ,the first time I met her she made me so comfortable and stress free .I went thru an extremely difficult and nasty divorce- orders of protection, I had time limits just to visit my own daughter. Yet, because of the incredible work done by Ms. Hunnell I got lots time to spend with my daughter and a very satisfying divorce. I also got my HOUSE BACK from my EX. wife.....Ms. Hunnell truly cared about my case. She herself or her staff was answering my questions, calls and emails very fast. I felt like I was texting her via email back and forth. Honestly I dealt with lots of other lawyers who take there own time to respond and keeps you in stress but not her, she is very good. I will always remember how hard she fought and worked in court for me. I deeply respect Ms. Hunnell's professionalism and I trust her with my life. I am an extremely happy client and I am proud to refer her to anyone.

Stephanie was what I wanted in a lawyer - professional, responsive, intelligent, caring and assertive. I had dealings with other lawyers who, maybe due to their age (or laziness) where very unresponsive and often ignorant of basic facts. Stephanie was totally on top of the situation. I totally recommend her.

Ms. Hunnell and her staff were supportive and professional in assisting me with my particular situation which was filled with uncertainty and stress. Stephanie was there to answer my questions and calm ANY anxiety that arose from legal as well other matters regarding the stressful situation I was facing. She assisted me in decision making and was understanding of my particular financial dilemma. I always knew that that she could could be reached if not by phone, through email or by leaving her a message. She or someone on her staff would contact me in a prompt manner. This was important and reassuring. She was also there for me when needed in court and her manner in dealing with the professionals there was respectful and professional. I also felt that those professionals we encountered extended that respect and professionalism to her. I felt her manner with me to be supportive and instructive. If if wasn't necessary for her to be in court with me she provided me with guidance and advice as to how I should handle what I was facing, in a effort to help me keep the cost of her services down. This was an issue for which I was most grateful. Her office was efficient in provided the written legal documents that were required in a timely and organized manner. I would turn to her again if the need arose and would recommend her to a friend facing a similar legal needs. Her manner is professional, knowledgeable yet caring and sensitive.

Can a Lawyer Represent Me in Courts Outside of Asbury Park, New Jersey?

Whether a lawyer can represent you in courts outside of your city or state depends on their licensure and the jurisdiction of the court:

  • Within the Same State:
Lawyers licensed in a particular state can typically practice anywhere within that state, including all cities and counties. They can represent you in both state and federal courts located in that state.
  • Outside of Their Licensed State:
If your case is in a different state, the lawyer must be licensed in that state to represent you. However, there are exceptions:
    • Pro Hac Vice Admission: An out-of-state lawyer can request special permission to represent a client in a specific case in another state. This requires filing a motion with the court and often working in conjunction with a local attorney.
    • Federal Courts: If your case is in federal court, a lawyer licensed in any state may be able to represent you, provided they are admitted to practice in that particular federal court.
  • International Representation:
For cases outside the United States, different rules apply, and the lawyer may need to comply with the foreign country's legal requirements or collaborate with local counsel.

It's important to discuss your specific situation with the lawyer to determine if they can represent you in the desired jurisdiction and what steps may be necessary to do so.

How to Check the Credibility of a Lawyer

Before hiring a lawyer, it's crucial to verify their credibility and ensure they're qualified to handle your case:

  • Verify Their License:
Check with your state's bar association to confirm the lawyer is licensed and in good standing. Most state bar websites have an online directory for this purpose.
  • Experience and Specialization:
Ensure the lawyer specializes in the area of law relevant to your case. Review their website, professional profiles, and case history.
  • Disciplinary Record:
Look up any history of disciplinary actions or complaints through the state bar association's records.
  • Client Reviews and Testimonials:
Read reviews on legal directories like Avvo, Martindale-Hubbell, Google, or Yelp to gauge client satisfaction and experiences.
  • Professional Memberships:
Membership in professional organizations or specialty bar associations can indicate a commitment to their field and adherence to high ethical standards.
  • Awards and Recognitions:
Honors from reputable organizations reflect expertise and a positive reputation in the legal community.
  • Consultation Assessment:
Use the initial consultation to evaluate their communication skills, responsiveness, and willingness to address your concerns.
  • Ask for References:
A credible lawyer should be willing to provide references from past clients who can speak to their abilities and professionalism.

What Should I Prepare for My First Consultation?

To make the most of your initial meeting with a lawyer, come prepared with:

  • Relevant Documents:
Bring all documents related to your case, such as:
    • Contracts or agreements
    • Correspondence (emails, letters, texts)
    • Legal notices or court papers
    • Financial records (if applicable)
    • Evidence (photos, videos, receipts)
  • Written Summary:
Prepare a concise written summary of your situation, including key dates, events, and parties involved. This helps the lawyer quickly understand the context.
  • List of Questions:
Write down any questions you have about your case, the legal process, fees, or the lawyer's experience.
  • Financial Information:
If your case involves financial matters, bring relevant documents like pay stubs, tax returns, bank statements, or invoices.
  • Contact Information:
Provide details of any witnesses or other parties relevant to your case, including their names and contact information.
  • Personal Identification:
Bring a valid photo ID for verification purposes.
  • Pen and Notebook:
Take notes during the consultation to remember important points discussed.
  • Budget Constraints:
Be ready to discuss your budget and any financial limitations so the lawyer can provide appropriate guidance on fees and payment options.
  • Openness and Honesty:
Be prepared to discuss your case candidly. Full disclosure allows the lawyer to give accurate advice and anticipate potential challenges.
